Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown devs want to make a Zelda spinoff

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown launched on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, just a few days ago and it has been very well received by critics and gaming media outlets. With the game finally available, Ubisoft, especially the game’s developers, have been celebrating the occasion.

For example, Ubisoft went over to the Metroidvania subreddit to have an ask-me-anything session with fans. One fan asked them what IP they’d like to make a game for that they don’t or haven’t had access to so far. In response, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown senior game designer Rémi Boutin said that they would “love” to work with the Zelda franchise and maybe even make a “strange spin-off based on Adventure of Link”.

    1. It would probably be a 2d platformer as this was the same studio who made Rayman Legends, which could be interesting but almost every nintendo ip is a 2d platform error so I’d be skeptical how it could stand out from the rest

      1. To be fair, the director for Prince of Persia, isn’t the same director that did the Rayman Origins and Legends games. Mounir Radi is also credited for directing Zombie U. So seeing him take on a Zelda (hopefully not a FPS) could be very interesting, plus he clearly has love for video games. Also, Ubi Montpellier, is obviously one of the better teams at Ubi. They’re the ones that developed and publish a few of Ubi’s better games; Zombie U, Origins, Legends, From Dust, Valiant Hearts, Beyond Good & Evil, and Peter Jacksons King Kong (which I don’t care what anyone says, that game was freaking awesome)

  1. Didn’t Ubisoft recently say they want people used to not owning their games?

That’s why I didn’t buy this, and won’t even pirate it.

    1. Not even remotely.

They asked the head of Ubisoft+ about the state of the subscription models, and where they were going. They guy answered with “I don’t have a crystal ball, but gaming just like other media will have to go almost all digital for that to work, AND consumers will have to get use to the idea of not owning their games” of course it’s not verbatim, but that’s about what he said. Which is true. We as consumers have to get used to not owning our games for these subscriptions to become a thing. Just like with movies, shows, and music. They never said they wanted us to used to get used to it, but that we would need to if a subscription model is to be the norm.

A bunch of sites just ran with that headline for clicks though.

  2. Eeeew, get your filthy, buggy, baguetted hands OFF The Legend of Zelda.
First we give the movie project to toilet-humor worshipping Avi Arad and now Ubi-disgusting-soft wants in, too? Get the hell away from Japan’s sacred, unscathed franchises, you greedy SOBs.

  3. pfft, oh wait the devs were serious let me laugh louder. but in all fairness if it has no woke propaganda and no pronoun trash then i’ll give this a chance

plus if the crappy building aspect is gone and link actually doesnt look like a girl then go for it ignore the weebs
