UK: Nintendo files trademarks related to GameCube controllers

Nintendo recently filed a number of GameCube related trademarks here in the UK, prompting speculation that GameCube games could be the next series of games added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscriptions. The trademarks apply specifically to the wonderful Gamecube controller and its unique button layout. Nintendo hasn’t confirmed Gamecube games for the Nintendo Switch Online service, yet.

  1. This could also mean that Nintendo would start manufacturing the GameCube controllers again. Those controllers are some of the best controllers in Nintendo history, and maybe even in general. But if a wireless GameCube controller is being made (Not WaveBird. Ones made by Nintendo for NSO+Expansion), then that would be cool. I would buy wired, and wireless controllers if they were manufactured by Nintendo again because of how solid and well-built those controllers were.

    1. They made some new GameCube controllers around Smash Ultimate’s launch, so yeah this wouldn’t surprise me. And for as much nostalgia as I have for the good old WaveBird, I really hope we get a Bluetooth GCN controller with the normal shell and quality as the Smash ones they made. GameCube NSO would be great, but probably not necessary for them to do this

      1. What’s so funny about this is if we do get a GameCube nso it will most likely give us 1 Mario party game, sunshine, double dash, some other niche gamecube title and wind waker and than we would have to wait for months for some other known GC games

      2. I don’t know how efficient an NSO- Nintendo GameCube app would be, with how large some of its games are. Even if it only launched with a handful of games, that would still probably be at least a 4-6GB download, with it ever increasing as more titles are added.

  2. Ok im pretty sure I’m wrong and it’s probably not gonna happen but, imagine if we get GameCube NSO for the switch 2, man I hope, look I love GameCube controllers but I hope it just doesn’t only end there, the GameCube is my favorite system and I would love to play them online with friends on my switch 2
