Attention is gradually shifting to the successor of the Nintendo Switch, but that doesn’t mean that the Switch itself is losing interest. There’s still a lot of interest in regards to the origins of Nintendo‘s hybrid console, and there’s still a lot we don’t know about it, even though the console is now nearly 7 years old.
Well, a piece of that puzzle has been found. Twitter user PaulFelixKelly recently posted some images discovered on a “prototype Switch Nand” that show early Nintendo Switch menu mockups. PaulFelixKelly said that “they seem to come from early in development as the ‘Switchboard’ Menu style was already set in stone mostly in 2016. So it is assumed that these pictures come from a point before then”. You can see their tweet, as well as a gallery of the images, down below.

I don’t get the hate for the Switch menu. There’s ZERO advertisements buzzing in your face! I love that, personally.
The 3ds wipes the floor with the switches interface. Also no way (as far as I’m aware) to customize the icons on your menu. It can only be configured though the different rankings they provide you
It’s much similar then the PS5 interface.
We got robbed
That actually looks better. Mainly the main menu screen.
Just give us themes please. That’s all I ask. Kept the Avi’s they gave now and add themes.
Do you realize its never going to happen eventually on the Switch right? We been asking for custom themes on the switch for a longtime now and its not happening. I don’t think Nintendo has plans to add them as a new big update. But, we still trying to figure out why Nintendo keeps doing stability updates without any explanation.
Oh snap, I was under the impression that these were Switch 2 menu mockups. Yeah Ive given up on this switch ever getting themes. But it’s one of the things I ask for on the new system.
I think they didn’t use themes to make the Switch UI smooth and light. Look at Android’s UI and OS, it is bloated and take a lot of the storage space. Switch OS creators wanted to make something to take full advantage of the device’s power.
Yeah, i wish PS5 had themes as well. PS4 has themes and PS5 doesn’t, they use themes as a pre-order bonus and yet you can’t even even use themes on PS5. It wouldn’t hurt if the Switch successor could have more then just a sold black or white background and it couldn’t hurt having Bgm, dynamic themes have unique music from games.
I had a collection of themes on the 3DS that the system would randomly shift through whenever I booted the system, and I also loved the 80s theme on my old PS4. This generation is so soulless with the minimalism.
TRIFORCE HEROES, coming to Switch?
