It has been rumored for a few days now, but it is a rumor no longer. It was announced by SEGA in Sony’s latest State of Play presentation that Sonic X Shadow Generations is on the way. It will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC in autumn of 2024.
The game contains a remake of the 2011 game Sonic Generations, which features Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic. It will also have a brand new standalone story campaign featuring Shadow the Hedgehog. You can see the official announcement tweet from the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account down below.

Wow I never doubted that this game was going to come to switch, I am a little bit downcast that this is apparently the “traditional” Sonic game that was leaked: I was kind of hoping for something new instead of a remake, but I’ll take it.
Now we just need Sonic team to stop ignoring adventure era fans and give us remakes of one and two
They have been ignoring this aspect doing their recent years like 6 or 10 years ago. I mean, if SEGA or Sonic Team could at least done this much earlier, we could have gotten one remake of Sonic games by now. I do dislike Shadow the Hedgehog till this day, but I do look forward on playing this on my Switch honestly instead of playing it on my 3DS version which was developed by Dimps.
Now we got Shadow as playable once again, the next game I want to see is Silver and Blaze being playable once again.
Me too, homie: Blaze has been largely ignored for far too long (and as much as Sonic team loves ignoring silver in the games, at least he gets some love from IDW)
I laugh so hard when Shadow went between both Sonics and both was freak out when Shadow was like trying get out of my way.🤣
“We won’t be bringing Shadow into the Classic series.” So that was a lie.
Disappointing that there is no Classic Shadow. Maybe Sega didn’t want to be a bigger hypocrite than it already is.
It’s still a cookie cutter Sonic game because it has Classic Sonic.
Explain how this is the “classic” series.
Sonic Generations was never Classic series. It’s a Modern Sonic game with Classic Sonic in. It even came before the whole “Classic vs Modern” BS. Just because Forces has Classic Sonic, it doesn’t make it a Classic game.
Mania, Origins and Superstars are the Classic games.
I feel bad for the kids that are gonna end up searching for sonic x shadow generations, because 8 year old me will never recover from searching sonic x tails art because I like sonic x, jokes aside I won’t be picking this up till black friday because sega will slap this at a discounted price like they did with superstars a month after it launch.
I’m pretty sure they are honestly because we all know that SEGA was trying to catch up to Mario and make the Sonic series more faithful again for old and new fans like they did in the past. The black Friday sales would be a good cheaper price if SEGA plans to released this in November usual instead of October.
I really loved Generations when it came out. New content is more than welcome; but please let it be polished
Great, the horrible name is real, super.
Moving on, I’m really hoping this has enough new content outside of all the Shadow stuff to actually excuse a full price. Like more stages, bosses and more unlockables.
We’re not sure about new stuff for base game yet. Shadow is definitely getting new stages and bosses because he’s getting an entire campaign just for him.
I’m aware of what Shadow is getting. Its the amount of all the other new content I’m waiting to see if its enough to get me to buy this.
What a shitty idea.
Sonic is dead to me, they’re willing to dickride Shadow so damn hard, they are rethreading what they ALREADY DID IN 2005, and adding this crap to a game that didn’t need it! And it doesn’t even make sense.
They clearly do not know where to know anymore.
Guess Frontiers being the future of the series was a lie. Of course.
If Frontiers was the future of the series, the series had no future, plain and simple:
-Rehashing Tails and Amy’s character arc from Adventure is the future of the series?
-Using completely lifeless scenarios looking more like a tech demo (and which got reused hard at the latter half of the game) is the future of the series?
-Meh combat system that, with an upgrade, became optional despite them touting it so much is the future of the series?
Damn, what a future. Glad ST, for now, backpedaled on this BS.
