Palworld fans were left concerned after Nintendo issued a surprise takedown of fan-made merchandise featuring Palworld designs. The move has sparked worries that Nintendo might target the game itself due to perceived similarities to Pokémon. Despite the takedown, Palworld remains popular, maintaining its success on Steam and even expanding to Xbox Series X/S with promised improvements. However, the game has faced criticism for its alleged resemblance to Pokémon, leading to fears of legal action from Nintendo.
The recent DMCA takedown of a fan-made Pal Sparkit t-shirt design only intensified these concerns. Fans expressed frustration and disbelief, with many arguing that the Pal designs bear little resemblance to Pokémon creatures. While the situation has stirred apprehension about the future of Palworld content, the game itself appears secure for now. Its unique features and ongoing development efforts distinguish it from Pokémon, providing a degree of protection against potential legal challenges.
Despite the setback, Palworld enthusiasts remain hopeful for the game’s continued success and eagerly anticipate upcoming content updates.

Well that’s not legal. I hope it’s just an automated mistake and not some sort of bully tactic.
Shouldn’t the DMCA come from The Pokémon Company since they have more to do with Pokémon than Nintendo?
Uh, pokemon company belongs to Nintendo…. It’s the parent company, isn’t it?
no, joint ownership does not grand parenthood over a company.
No not really. TPC (The Pokemon Company) is the name of the partnership between Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures Inc. they’re all responsible for different things. Games, anime/shows, & merchandise.
Nintendo already lost the copyright lawsuit, they have no legal right to DMCA this fan made merchandise for a game they didn’t make
There was no lawsuit with Palworld…. It was with the modder who used Pokemon Assets to mod into Palworld. Context.
Is this website Nintendo News or Palworld Drama Channel?
The article is about how Nintendo issued a take down of fan made merchandise of Pal World designs. This news is directly related to Nintendo as the article is about their usual unrelaxed nature of overprotecting their property.
Seems like Nintendo wanted to make sure nothing is damaged from their IP. Not really sure if they have any legal right to takedown fan merchandise that is similar to their IP that they own.
Please stop talking dude. You are only making yourself look worse with these bad lawyer takes. Stop!
Honestly.. you’re the one i wish would just hush.
Yeah, keep telling yourself that.
I’m no legal expert, but I’m fairly certain Nintendo doesn’t have the right to issue takedowns for fan products of IPs they do not own or have dominion over; if anyone, it should be whoever owns Palworld who does that.
What I fear might happen is Nintendo taking the bootleg claim approach by saying the product is of a fan-created Pokemon- a claim that would easily be debunked just by looking at Palworld’s roster and finding it there, but still, I worry they might attempt that angle.
Either way. This is incredible PR for Palworld.
Etsy, that is all.
Palworld’s player counts are declining because many of us think we’re about to get Nintendo’d. No sense in putting effort in playing a game that’s going to get the infamous Nintendo death touch.
This is more than likely an automated DMCA flag that alot of sites use, including but not limited to – twitch and youtube. Anything that can be flagged/is flagged usually pertains to SEO usage and/or tags but can include specific imagery or colors.
Everyone is over-reacting. Holy shit.
If that’s the case, Nintendo can take up the reputational damage with the site which issued a false takedown in their name. All I know is something was done in behalf of Nintendo and it’s up to them to clear things up and put pressure on the site to do the right thing in their name, not us fans who know nothing.
