Those of you who use the Nintendo Switch Online app on your smartphone will have noticed that a recent update states that the app is now only available on devices running iOS 15 and upwards. This means that Nintendo has dropped compatibility with older devices running iOS 14 and below. The current iOS version is iOS 17. You can check your version by going to settings and general and software update on your iPhone.
Also requires Android 8.0 or later to use on Android devices now.

Sounds unnecessary, does anyone actually use it and does it actually use that extra power?
Is not about power. Supporting older versions requires actively developing for them as well, so your need more time and resources invested for each version your app supports.
Sometimes companies stop support not only due to power but compatibility issues with the OS.
For fecks sake…
How I wish they would just cram this bloody app up their bum and put all the features ON THE SWITCH, where they belong!
Juuust my two cents…
ios 15 supports just as many phones as ios 13 so non issue really
