It would appear as though Spyro 4 is in active development at talented development studio, Toys for Bob. The news comes from Crash Bandicoot and Spyro mega fan, Canadian Guy Eh. The information was shared in a recent video published by Canadian Guy Eh and summarised by Reset Era member Nicoreese. Spyro 4 has apparently been in active development since January of this year and is the studios first new independent game. Here’s the details:
- He had many private talks with people in the industry over the last few months and always heard whispers about Spyro 4
- On March 20 he flew to Boston for PAX East and had conversations with a lot of developers
- Some of the developers he talked to also heard stuff about Spyro 4 and one person in particular heard things that matched up with what he heard before
- On Saturday an article by Jez said that Toys For Bob had worked out a deal with Microsoft to work on their first new independent game that is “similar to their previous games”, which was a quote by Xbox’s Matt Booty.
- Canadian Guy Eh heard about this before the article dropped.
- After the article he talked to these people at PAX again and now that the article was out, one of those people confirmed to him that Spyro 4 is in active development since January 2024.
Right when Microsoft Bought Activision, makes sense. I throwing out a Multi-player Spyro game, yall can tell me if that’s stupid or not, but could be cool

I want a new Spyro game but not by Toys for Bob, I know they’ll mess it up like they always do when they do their own original ideas. They’re so called Crash 4 and Crash Team Rumble were awful.
I absolutly love me a new main Spyro game but like most rumors this sounds like another ‘too good to be true’ one. Would love to be wrong but we’ll see.
But there is a fourth Spyro for the PS2. Plagued by long load times and stuttering, it was still an enjoyable experience.
I agree, the Gamecube port of the game was actually much better by the way.
I hope for all there is left that if this game comes out, it is woke-free. Just make good games already again. Because if that happens, maybe we can get a GOOD Crash game again… part 4 was disgustingly bad.
I so hope this is true. I’ve been a huge Spyro fan for most of my life. Something tells me this is too good to be true but I guess we’ll see.
