Midori confirms a sequel to Sonic Frontiers is in development, name could change

Sonic Frontiers

It would seem as though the Sonic Team‘s next big project is a sequel to Sonic Frontiers which launched in 2022. The news was first shared by DanielRPK and was corroborated by the reliable SEGA Atlus leaker, Midori. SEGA has not announced a sequel to Sonic Frontiers, but it seems as though this is their next big game in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

  1. Why can’t Sega use the time and resources to develop Sonic Adventure 3 instead? I thought Sonic Frontiers was okay but I thought the gameplay was too shoddy and the open-world concept that they did just didn’t pan out too well and the gameplay was just all over the place that it became a chore and playing Frontiers was cumbersome. Please Sega, do the fans a favor and develop SA3

      1. They already are going under. With the amount of flops their games have been having for several years now, fans are becoming sick of it. Only the hardest of hardcores remain and I personally don’t buy 99 percent of their Sonic games anymore. Mania and Frontiers were exceptions, with Frontiers being a contentious game as to whether I should have even bought it.

Either Sega gets better talent and management and SERIOUSLY starts to course correct their whole thing with Sonic or they are destined to be a merchandise only brand.

  2. I mean it was already confirmed awhile ago that the next main Sonic game would continue with the open-world, should Frontiers be a success (sales-wise), so this is no surprise. Can’t say I’m excited though.
Frontiers’ gameplay itself was somewhat fine imo, but the open-world and boring settning designs were just lackluster to say the least.

  3. Revisionist history in the comments. People loved this game when it came out, and now all the comments are mad that we’re getting anything even remotely related to it at any point in the future? No wonder top comment is about Adventure 3. I remember when I was, like, 10 years old, and everyone online convinced me that Club Penguin was better in 2006, 5 years before I ever knew about it. It wasn’t, but I wonder if that’s how Adventure 3 believers got to where they are. Frontiers is a much more feasible type of game than Sonic Adventure is in the year of our LORD 2024, as much as I would appreciate another Sonic Adventure game (and love P-06).
