Xbox shuts down Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks

The Xbox team has announced this afternoon that they are shutting down a number of studios, one of which is the developer behind the acclaimed Hi-Fi Rush, which has been in development for the Nintendo Switch family of systems. Other studios which are being shuttered by Xbox are Arkane Austin, Alpha Dog Studios and Roundhouse Games.

“Tango Gameworks will also close. We are thankful for their contributions to Bethesda and players around the world. Hi-Fi Rush will continue to be available to players on the platforms it is today.”

  1. Microsoft’s usual tactic… buying studios and then closing in order to encompass the teams and their IPS within Microsoft in order to prevent them from being new freelancers or buying… Who’s next? Activision -Blizzard in 2025…

    1. Just like Embracer is doing. They only have the money to buy, but not to maintain the studios for much time. So either they start the lay offs, close the studios or sell to another company.

    1. Are you KIDDING ME??? SCREW Microsoft a billion times over. This is the developer behind Ghostwire Tokyo and The Evil Within. I’ve been waiting for The Evil Within 3 for YEARS. WTF. SCREW MICROSOFT WTF!!!!

  2. Sad. I hope Hi-Fi Rush comes to the current Switch or 2 soon. Other thing is that the developer behind Redfall, Arkane Austin, also closed. It says on the IGN source.

    1. Well, it says “Hi-Fi Rush will continue to be available to players on the platforms it is today.” so if it is not available on Switch today, I guess it won’t be coming

  3. Gaming industries are a dying breed. This happens to get rid of competition really. Games today take so much manpower and time to make that they most make very little profit if any in the end.
I say just go back to 360 era graphics and further or just make games that can beat and not games that take 100 hrs to complete one playthrough. Make sequels to games like that to add in the extra storylines. Nooo, let’s spend years on something that will take 100 hours to complete then release it half done and watch it flop. So stupid.

Remember, gaming had its dying years in the early 80’s also and who came to save it? Nintendo that’s who. I’d expect the same thing again.

    1. It’s just capitalism really, big studios have been inglobing other companies sucking them dry and leave them dead they have been doing this shit since the first years of 2000, I hate that this is happening and I can’t tolerate it, big companies are fucking us up as always
