The Mario and Luigi series is getting a new entry on November 7th, which is incredible news for fans who thought that the series would never see daylight again. Even better news, however, is Nintendo’s comments to Game File confirming that the studio behind every other entry in the series, AlphaDream, will be playing a part in the project.
“Some of the original developers who worked on the franchise are involved in the development of Mario & Luigi: Brothership. For more information about the developers, please stay tuned to the game credits at release.”
From Superstar Saga to Paper Jam, AlphaDream oversaw what, to many, will always be Mario’s best RPG spinoff series. Despite having closed its doors due to bankruptcy in 2020, the studio now seems to live on through its staff and the series that they made successful. No information about the developers involved have been made known though, and the exact capacity of their involvement is but another mystery. Are they hands-on, or just there for quality assurance?
And that’s to say nothing of the greatest mystery surrounding the game: who’s making it? As we reported on the 22nd, Twitter user Lizardy claimed that ILCA is the prime suspect. Though they have promised evidence, they also have mentioned to take the news with a “grain of salt,” potentially putting us back at square one. If the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl developer is in fact captain of the ship, then this would only be their second full project for Nintendo. Then again, if AlphaDream’s remnants are part of the crew, then whether it be ILCA or someone else steering, the Brotheship’s voyage is bound to be a bountiful one.

What’s up Amaan, welcome to the team. Great article by the way.
Well, whoever is making the game, hopefully it turns out good.
Thanks! Glad to be here.
I can’t wait to see how this game turns out! Good to hear that about those developers.
Glad to hear it! Solid article.
