Japan: Dragon Quest III Remake sold 641,195 retail copies on Switch alone

Japanese video game sales tracker Famitsu has revealed that the long-awaited Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake for the Nintendo Switch family of systems sold 641,195 retail copies. Again, that’s on the Nintendo Switch alone and does not include Nintendo eShop sales. On the hardware side, the Nintendo Switch family sold an additional 62,158 units this week and the PlayStation 5 family sold 23,672 units. The Xbox Series X|S sold 3,070 units. Here’s the best-sellers in the Land of the Rising Sun.

  1. Really impressive numbers—over 641,000 physical copies on Switch alone in Japan is huge, especially for a remake. It really shows how strong the Dragon Quest brand still is there, and how well the HD-2D style resonates with fans.
