Update: Eurogamer has corroborated the January 16th reveal date, as well as info that the reveal will be “a focus on the much-leaked console itself, rather than a deep dive into its software line-up”.
There was a bit of peace during the weekend, as the Switch 2 leaks and rumors briefly quieted down. However, it’s a new work week, so things are beginning to ramp out once again. That said, the latest Switch 2 rumor may be the biggest one yet. It seems that we may finally have a date on when the console will be officially revealed.
Moments ago, multiple insiders have come forward to say that they have heard that the Switch 2 will be revealed in a few days, on January 16th. NateTheHate shared additional info about what will be in the reveal, though he says he considers them “incomplete” because “it just doesn’t make sense to me”. The reveal will focus on the console itself, and there will be no presence of games. He says there could be a game running on the screen “depending on how the trailer is put together”, but “software is not going to be a focus”. Thankfully, NateTheHate also says that Nintendo will have a software presentation “towards the end of February, perhaps early March”.
Not long after NateTheHate revealed his information, Verge senior editor Tom Warren made a social media post saying that “I’ve heard it should be the Switch 2 reveal this week”. Obivously this isn’t official information from Nintendo, so it’s yet another rumor. But for those of you that are tired of the leaks and rumors, there is apparently a light at the end of the tunnel soon.

Many of these “rumors” sound more like speculations on the supposed leaker’s part than inside information. They say whatever they want and the sites report, without any kind of proof.
Actually – at this point my excitement has faded. I’m seriously disappointed in Nintendo for dragging this out. Tired of this BS.
It should have been pretty clear they weren’t releasing this until summer. If you miss Christmas you don’t immediately release something bc
1) Everyone has spent all their money
and
2) No one enjoys having a new thing announced a month after they bought the old thing.
So you shoot for Summer, the next big window, which also gives them time to manufacture lots and lots of units.
Nothing really proves they’ll release it in the summer, but okay.
It’ll be a 30 second shot of the men’s bathroom door at Nintendo HQ and, in the last 5 seconds, Miyamoto will walk into frame and go through the door while holding the system in his hand.
I’m gonna keep my expectations low for now until Nintendo officially confirmed it themselves.
So far, Nate the Hate has been on a role. He was correct about Nintendo Music. What if he’s also right when Nintendo of America announced this Thursday’s Nintendo Switch 2 reveal on Wednesday on X and Instagram?
Although my expectations are at negative 0, we’ll have that answer this Wednesday or otherwise.
The thing is, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD will release on the same day, January 16. However, back on October 20, 2016, Nintendo revealed the Switch and on the same day they released Mario Party: Star Rush on the 3DS, but that was in Japan, Honk Kong and Taiwan. Seeing the release wasn’t worldwide, maybe according to Nintendo that would not impact sales or some other reason. So, there is a chance that the new console will, in fact, be revealed this week if the rumor is true.
