A fan took to X to ask the occasionally irritable, but well respected video game designer Hideki Kamiya, which version of the iconic Okami to play. Kamiya responded by saying that Okami HD was the best way to currently experience the game, and subsequently informed fans not to bother playing the Wii version which was developed by American studio, Ready At Dawn.
“The Wii version is not the original… I made the PS2 version… If you want to play it now, the HD version is the best… Personally, I don’t want you to play the Wii version…”

Im definitely in the minority (and this is odd topic) but Ready at Dawns; The Order 1886, was a really good game for what it was.

How short is it really? I might play my digicopy on ps5 if it’s not over 25 hours long. I could use a quick game to play to free up some space on my system.
All I know is Okami is much longer than Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Oh, I was asking about 1886. I don’t expect I’d beat Okami in a short time-frame if I was to play it.
Oh you’re good. I’ve heard people beat it in 10. It took me about 5 and half the first time lol it’s really short, but man is it good. Beware, it leaves off at a cliffhanger and we aren’t getting a sequel.
…oh it 🤬 would end on a cliffhanger..! Well I spent money on it, so just have to deal with it… even though cliffhangers really irritate me. thinks of KAOS & Dark Crystal Age of Resisistance getting canceled by Netflix with their cliffhanger ending
It sucks that it ends on a cliff hanger, but it’s still a great play none the less. Think of Resistance 3, great game but that ending, you know.

KAOS is definitely worth it. It’s basically what if Greek mythology was real & the Olympian Gods were in charge in the modern day.
Jeff Goldblum plays Zeus & he’s amazing. Only 3 of the gods we actually see in the show are actually good people: Hades, Persephone, & Dionysus. Zeus is a paranoid sociopath, Hera’s worst action is in the beginning of the first episode (you’ll see), & Poseidon does what Zeus tells him to do. It’s also narrated by Prometheus who is played by the guy who played Stannis in Game of Thrones. (One of the best characters in the show next to Zeus.) There’s a few things in the show that some would use woke as an insult for, but they don’t come off as overly preachy, so it didn’t bother me. In fact, I enjoyed the Fates who are trans women & Caeneus, a character in the myths who was ra-ed by Poseidon & asked to be made a man so it couldn’t happen again, is a trans man. (This one makes sense due to the myths even though they weren’t victimized by Poseidon in this show’s lore.) There’s a few mythological events that didn’t happen til the modern day. The biggest one being the Trojan war, so Cassandra the prophet is still alive in this. (She’s played by the awesome Billie Piper of Doctor Who fame.) If you’re a big Greek myth guy like me, you’ll probably notice some of the changes & applaud the things that they get right. (Like Hades actually being a benevolent god & Persephone not being a victim of his. I’m not a fan of those versions where he’s bad. Except Disney’s Hercules because James Woods is awesome.)
Goldblum should play more villains, honestly. There is one line in the last episode that’s great because it’s so clever. Zeus calls his son Heracles by his Roman name Hercules because he doesn’t want to show Hera any respect considering what Heracles means. Oh & considering I got thalassophobia, the Scylla/Charybdis (they appear to be one, single entity) scene gets to me but I enjoy it because of my phobia. It’s definitely one of my favorite parts of the series. Too bad it happens so quickly that you might be tempted to pause it to get a good look at it, like I did. My only gripe with the show is one of the characters is mad at another for something they did that they later discover was actually beneficial to them. (You’ll most likely notice it yourself when you get there.)

I should’ve mentioned it, but I only brought up the order because Kamiyas tweet made it seem like whoever ported the Wii Port of Okami was an inferior developer. And maybe they aren’t as great as kamiya, but Ready at Dawn made The Order 1886, and that was a really good game. Now I also said ‘for what it was’ because it was an extremely short game, but man was it an extremely jam packed short game.
Funny, I’ve played the Wii version twice and the HD one once, I kind of prefer using the pointer to draw, compared to the motion controls.
There was some controversy about the Wii version removing the credits of some of the original team members from the game’s ending. I remember reading Kamiya criticizing this, maybe that’s why

The Wii version was great. Tye IR pointer controls were a perfect fit for the game mechanics.
So it’s settled. Wii version for best implementation of the brush mechanic.
I have this game in my back catalog, so that’s why.
