Mat Piscatella, who works for Circana the video game software and hardware sales tracker in the United States, has said in a new video that he is of the firm believe that the Nintendo Switch 2 will bring the video game market back to growth when it launches later this year, Here’s what Mr. Piscatella had to say about Grand Theft Auto 6 and the Nintendo Switch 2’s affect on the US marketplace:
“If those two things do happen this year, and they do meet the expectations going into this year, I think you’re looking at low to mid single digit percentage growth in overall market spending on video game products. Now that doesn’t sound like a lot, but it would result in record spending on the consumer side. It would get the industry back to growth over that 2021 peak that we’d previously seen. And most importantly, I think, and a little bit of a thing not a lot of folks may be thinking about, is it gets investment flowing back into the game space.”
This is a very safe assumption. This generation is a joke. The launch of the PS5 and X-Box Series X was a catastrophe. They were desperate to get a bigger audience so they put most of their games on PC (Which I love as a PC player). And this is the slowest generation I think I’ve ever seen.
Nintendo with the Switch had a lot of momentum, but right now its slowing down only for the transitional period of their upcoming platform. Assuming they can keep the same vibe with the Switch 2, with the same pace of games coming to their platform it will inspire competition from Playstaion and X-Box.
This generation is also skint and video games are expensive.
I alone can actually afford to buy games, but some of them are just a joke…£70 for some ps5 games, always best to wait until the price drops even if you have to experience such game at a later date, I usually buy the switch games that I want when they release, but I’m seriously considering waiting if they increase anymore and that’s someone that can actually afford them.

The PS5/Xbox launches weren’t “catastrophic” – they were hit by global chip shortages which is why they were hard to get (I know you know this)
PC releases aren’t “desperation,” it’s just companies making more money by reaching more players. The Switch slowing down is just normal end-of-lifecycle stuff. Nothing about this gen is a “joke” – you’re just not looking at facts.
But it was catastrophic partly because there was a shortage. Political pandering is also part of the problem. It hasn’t really helped anyone & has mostly pissed people off. The poor fools that support & defend it don’t even realize it’s pandering because they actually believe these companies actually care about the message. Not even Pippin was this much of a “fool of a Took”. In reality, everyone is just a dollar sign to them.
So sadly most of this gen has been a joke. A very bad one, at that. The only part that’s not been a joke has been Ninty kicking everyone else’s ass. I hope the Switch 2 continues Ninty’s rise back to the top of the industry. Which shouldn’t be too hard if Sony & Microsoft keep making bone headed decisions that kills off any exclusivity they have while trying to manipulate & brainwash people into thinking they actually give a damn about, well, people. The only color that matters to them is green.
I miss the days before 2016. Fuck. That. Year. It’s been a downward spiral of fuckery ever bloody since. Least gaming is sorta, kinda doing okay thanks in huge part to Nintendo. Oh & WWE is no longer under the tyrannical and senile thumb of VKM. May it forever stay that way til he dies.

Let’s stick to the actual point: COVID messed up manufacturing and shipping worldwide – it wasn’t just gaming. Cars, phones, appliances… everything got hit. That’s not a “catastrophe,” that’s just what happens when a global pandemic disrupts supply chains. The gaming industry actually handled it pretty well considering the circumstances.
Catastrophe – event causing great and often sudden damage or suffering; a disaster. A pandemic is essentially a disaster due to a highly infectious disease.
Sorry about the rant part. Just tired of some people trying to force politics into everything regardless of the aisle they’re on & fucking with my #1 hobby. It’s already ruined my interest in movies, for the most part. Probably why I’m trying to watch every wrestling show that comes on throughout the week as they’re mostly politic free on the show themselves; just pure entertainment. 99% of the time, I manage to keep myself from posting about it myself, because I don’t want to deal with the political toxicity of others or become toxic myself. They said the same about Cyberpunk 2077 and look how that turned out.
While immensely popular, Cyberpunk cannot match the GTA fanbase.

Once upon a time they were respected. I guess my point is we’ve seen many studios that were considered at the top fall from grace. I hope it doesn’t happen to Rockstar, but I think people need to brace themselves too.
Nah, pretty much optimistic rockstar is going to deliver another groundbreaking installment again, when it comes to mainline games how many times did they fail? GTA 5 still has one of the greatest open world maps to this day
They failed miserably when they brought the 1, 2, and 3 collection out. Also GTA 5 is an 11 year old game at this point. A lot has changed in that time. A lot of the staff is probably different for one thing. There is no guarantee we will see the same quality or controversial aspects like LGBTQ garbage. If this new GTA comes out a buggy mess or some plot related character says they’re non-binary I’m not going to be surprised. The entertainment industry has trained me to brace myself for disappointment even with things I really enjoyed back in the day.
Feel games should stop trying to aim for photo realism and high poly counts on the smallest of assets and jumiggle physics…. Or trying to get skin looking soft high definition pores and etc
Put the energy in gameplay and making things fun again ….

I disagree. They should double down on jiggle physics. We need booty jiggle physics to go with the booby jiggle physics. No. Triple down. We need jiggle physics for all parts of the body that jiggle. And it shouldn’t be relegated to zee female form, either. Zee male form has some jiggle jiggle, too!
