Pokemon Legends Z-A coming to the Nintendo Switch late 2025

The Pokemon Company announced that the long-awaited next mainline entry in the Pokemon franchise Pokemon Legends Z-A is now scheduled for late 2025. The game features a number of improvements over its predecessors and it’s great to finally have a comprehensive look at the game. The starters for the latest Pokemon game are Chikorita, Tepig, Totodile. Check out the new trailer for Pokemon Legends Z-A down below.

  1. I enjoyed Legends Arceus a lot. It was definitely rough around the edges, but I was hoping it was the start of a series that would be refined and improved. This… is not an improvement. I mean jeez… I’ve never been one to care about graphics but does this game somehow look worse than LA?

I was also worried about the setting. The entire map just being a city didn’t seem too compelling. I was hoping there were areas outside where you could explore and catch Pokemon. That isn’t looking likely now since there are these wild zones within the city.

And one of the biggest improvements in LA (imo) is how much faster battling was. This looks slower. Admittedly, looks like their trying to incorporate more action gameplay into it but I really don’t know if it’s going to feel good. Action gameplay depends on tight controls and reaction so idk how well that translates to you issuing commands to an AI that’s semi-following you.

    Anyways, there’s my “obnoxious” take.

    1. Yup, certainly was obnoxious as expected. Glad to see you’ve gained a slither of self-awareness :)
Do you not get tired of constantly crying about a children’s monster catching game? Move on bro.

    2. They might still have a higher level Wild Zone outside of the city. I never played Arceus since I’m not a big fan of the series, but speaking purely from a game design perspective they wouldn’t have to limit these zones to only inside. Can’t speak for the speed of the battles, but maybe it starts off a little bit slower to help ease players into the new battle system, then it gets faster later into the game depending on your opponent’s Pokémon, arena layouts, etc.

I just hope that the game is good because despite not being a game for me, I want it to be good for those who are part of that audience. Ngl, it’s still a good sign that they didn’t give a release date; they can still polish it even further and delay again if they need to.

        1. Did Arceus have DLC? I’m weirdly hopeful for this game again despite my lack of attachment for the series, so I’m thinking that they won’t do that

          1. Yes and no. It has the Day Break DLC, but that was free. It was a fairly small DLC though.

I’ve been a sucker and have all the DLC from the last couple games, so even if I complain about this one, I’ll end up buying it lol.

    3. you’ve nailed my feelings to a tee! I assumed the two extra years in the oven would give them ample time to catch up even somewhat graphically but it looks like they’ll never come close.

Hate to say it but this is clear evidence they’ll never change and if you don’t see it now, you’ll see it in ‘late 2025’ when this smudgefest drops AFTER switch 2, mario kart 9, new 3d mario and zelda remake

  2. Haven’t played Pokemon since SuMo & ORAS. The games are trying to “evolve” but they seem blander than ever.
With that said, if the Legends formula could become their real-time and sandbox series, I’d love for the mainline games to go back to being closer to Gen 5.

  3. Appreciate these games are not built to push graphical boundaries but my god, I’ve seen more texture on Sandpaper !

    1. It would be one thing if they weren’t pushing graphical fidelity and had a really nice art style along with great performance. It’s just that Pokemon games since the 3ds not only look terrible but they run horribly too, which really sucks.

  4. Nah… Palworld is more fun. This is just a boring downgrade from Legends, which had a boring story but a good gameplay. This, however, is just plane borderness. And I bet everyone will be the best friends forever, even your rivals. Disgusting.

  5. Wow, this is exciting news! I’ve been really enjoying the open-world format of Pokemon Legends Arceus, so I’m curious to see how they expand on that with Z-A. Late 2025 feels like a long wait, but hopefully, it’ll be worth it. Maybe I’ll fill the time by mastering a new life in Bitlife , or finally completing my Pokedex in Scarlet/Violet!

  6. Monkey Mart is a cute game where monkeys run a small store. Stock items, serve happy customers, and make the shop bigger. Simple and very fun to play!
