Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is finally available today and data miners have been combing through the files checking to see what secrets are hidden within. One such person is dataminer @masagratordev who has discovered that the game’s executable has a hidden 60fps mode. However, once enabled it is clear that it is unfinished as MasaGratoR says on X that “It seems to be implemented only partially since enabling it causes weird issues.” Perhaps the mode lays the groundwork for enhancements if you play the acclaimed JRPG on the Nintendo Switch 2, which is due out later this year.

– Dynamic resolution ranges: 504p-720p handheld, 760p-1080p docked
– Game's executable has hidden 60 FPS mode. It seems to be implemented only partially since enabling it causes weird issues. As a proof screen from function that sets UI speed, 1.0.1 pic.twitter.com/Ag09YVQ7g1

Another reason to buy the Switch 2 day one at hopefully retail pricing. F the scalpers.
Ah man… switch 2 direct is just days away. Hyped!
I did notice XCX DE was running at a lower frame rate as I was playing it last night, though I don’t know if the OG version on Wii U ran better or worse. Felt a bit above Zelda BotW but not 60 FPS like the Splatoon games. Considering the console has to render a massive map with massive creatures, it’s no surprise performance had to be sacrificed somewhere.
Once the Nintendo Switch 2 is launched later this year, we could be seeing Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition to be compatible with Nintendo’s new generation hybrid system to be presented at 60fps and better resolution (possibly DLSS).
