Nintendo of America president talks diversity

Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser has sat down with Brazillian newspaper Folha de S.Paulo to talk about a range of topics and one thing which came up is the all-important topic of diversity in the workplace. Mr. Bowser said that they will continue to hire the best talent and that its DEI initiative will continue to be in place for the foreseeable future.

“We always want to attract the best talent we can and retain that talent. We also believe it’s important for that talent to be diverse in terms of their backgrounds, their experiences, and their understandings because our players are diverse. So we strive to have diversity that reflects our players in our organization. This is something that’s been in place for years, before people really started using the acronym DEI [diversity, equity, and inclusion]. And that will continue to be in place. It’s important to us.”

  1. After that, we’re going to hear that idiot Trump shouting ‘fire this guy!’ again.
I appreciate you more and more, Mr. Bowser.

    1. Good to see a few more CEOs growing a spines and standing up for their companies’ values and culture. A diverse labor force has so many benefits, from productivity, innovation, and retention.

I hope that Nintendo keeps their eyes and ears open to the feedback they are getting from fans on pricing and game key carts, because I think they are at risk of losing their identity in some other respects, and I really do cherish what they have traditionally stood for.

  2. Nothing you said was correct by any stretch of the imagination and everyone is now dumber for having read your useless garbage. Please consider educating yourself and being a productive member of society instead of a DEI moron communist

Lol What is communism? DEI helps give different perspectives and makes sure the best get hired. Not just the good old boys favorite.

  3. Dei is a joke people shoukd be hired on skill not the colour of there skin dei is ridiculous o let’s hire a pilot based on religion or race no base it on skills idiots like u will never understand

It shows how insecure you are. DEI helps make sure that qualified minorities get hired over mediocre cis/het Christian white males

      1. Eww, look at this “””woman’s””” YouTube channel.
He looks like an orc from Lord of the Rings 😂

        1. Sickr’s on another break, ‘course. He loves comments like these! Nothing better for a Nintendo fan site!

It’s should* also, that isn’t what DEI is. It’s meant to make sure that qualified minorities get a fair shake, and aren’t overlooked.

  4. Hire me based on my qualifications, merit, skills, experience, etc. Do not focus on my skin color, sexual preference, gender identity, or background/history. That is racist, discriminatory, bigoted, and idiotic. I want to be judged by the content of my character, not by the color of my skin. Use your brain folks. It’s there for a reason.

      1. You be surprised that there are millions of non-whites who don’t support DEI. There is a reason the gaming industry is in flames.

    1. “Do not focus on my skin color sexual preference gender identity” that’s what DEI is for, so that everyone has a chance no matter their identity, many people that hire others for their job focus on their identity, you basically said that we should need something like DEI. Not even American and I know better than you what DEI is for.

  5. Hey Sickr, can we get the racist, sexist POS above banned please?
They’re insulting people’s sex, ethnicity and even religion under the pretense of defending DEI practices, which must surely be against this sites TOS.
We don’t want such a hateful and bigoted individuals on this site.

  6. I’m all for diversity but DEI is not the answer. DEI is just a way to legally discriminate anyone that don’t share the same ideology, anyone who is light skinned and goes against merit based hiring which fun fact is the true way to be diverse and inclusive.

  7. Anyone want to explain why my comment is gone now? I don’t recall saying anything that wasn’t true or offensive. Sickr?

    1. If it was part of a thread then that thread will disappear when the starting comment is deleted (just the way it works).Otherwise the comment section wouldn’t make sense!

  8. Diversity is a sham, any company that supports this is weak and foolish. You cannot expect a group with separate goals and beliefs to produce anything of value.

  9. He is contradicting himself… he “always want to attract the best talent we can and retain that talent” but then he will limit that by having quotas based on race and gender not who has “the best talent”
