Nintendo says Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza only possible on Switch 2

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has told investors at the latest question and answer session that both Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are only possible due to the increased hardware power of the Nintendo Switch 2 and wouldn’t be possible on the current Nintendo Switch system. While Furukawa didn’t get into specifics it would likely be down to Mario Kart World’s large open world nature and Donkey Kong Bananza’s almost fully destructive environments.

“Higher hardware processing performance has become necessary for software developers to realize one of Nintendo’s most important goals: proposing new ways to play.”

“The Nintendo Switch 2 might not seem like much of a change on the outside. However, in reality, both the hardware and peripherals have been developed from scratch.”

          1. Will online play be crisp or laggy? That is still a big question. If mario kart online is great that would be big.

  1. They spent 8 years on Switch with Wii U’s Mario Kart. They could have made a remake like F-Zero or Excite Truck or a new series of racing games, they are lazy. There is no price reduction on Switch because they have no intention of surpassing PS2 in sales. They hired staff from Monolith Soft for games like Zelda and delayed the medieval fantasy game. Their motto is how to get the most income with the least staff and budget. As much as I love Nintendo, they don’t bother with such nonsense.

    1. Nobody cared about Excitetruck, Excitebike series only exists to fill it’s normie non-Mario sports lineup on Nintendo consoles, which became obselete as soon as Wii & Nintendo Sports became a thing. Same thing happened to Wave Rave and etc.

    2. I am going to tell you a very recent piece of news: companies are there to make a profit…doesn’t that surprise you?

  2. Understandable. Mario Kart’s open world and DK’s world destruction would make them very difficult for Switch 1.

  3. BS lol.
If a game like witcher3, botw and totk can run on the switch1 than of course mario kart world would too.

    1. You sure sound like you know what you’re talking about and are definitely comparing apples to apples.

Mario Kart World runs at 60fps while rendering at 1440p resolution WHILE simultaneously rendering a seamless open world without a loading screen. Breath of the Wild runs at 900p and TARGETS 30fps, but frequently struggles to maintain that under pressure.

DK Bananza’s “destructible level” idea is EXTREMELY taxing on the CPU and WOULD NOT maintain a solid 60fps on Switch 1. Can’t have a 3D platformer running at anything other than 60fps.

If they COULD make these games for Switch 1, then they would. Software makes a lot more money for them than hardware. These games are exclusive for a reason. Your inability to comprehend that changes nothing. Facts are facts.

    2. Breath of the wild and tears of the Kingdom wrong at 30 FPS at best and there are frame drops sometimes and it’s not always at 30 FPS. Witcher 3 only runs at 540p on switch.

    3. Breath of the wild and tears of the Kingdom run at 30 FPS at best and there are frame drops sometimes and they’re not always at 30 FPS. Witcher 3 only runs at 540p on switch.

  4. Don’t understand why all you guys have a problem with new games on new consoles being exclusive to the new console. Every generations of consoles all have exclusives to their generation. It’s nothing new that games companies do this

  5. This is a huge step forward for Nintendo! 🚀 Both Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza highlight how the Nintendo Switch 2 brings brand-new possibilities with its improved hardware. Open worlds and fully interactive environments are exactly the kind of innovation fans have been waiting for.
