Nintendo says AI images were not used in Mario Kart World

Some eagle-eyed fans spotted what they believed to be AI generated images on the various billboards scattered throughout Mario Kart World in the recent Nintendo Treehouse stream of the game. Eurogamer contacted the company to enquire whether said images were created by artificial intelligence. Nintendo replied and said that no AI images were used in the creation of Mario Kart World. Mario Kart World launches alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 on 5th June.

“AI-generated images were not used in the development of Mario Kart World,” a Nintendo spokesperson told Eurogamer.

  1. They avoided the question by stating a fact about the game development. The question was whether the billboard images were AI. Seems like they are being dodgy.

    1. My bad, they are in fact talking about in game billboards. They do resemble cheap looking AI renders that lack detail, so it’s fair to ask that question.

    2. The billboards were created…. During development. There was no dodging the question, they answered it.

  2. The car from the billboard that people thought was AI generated because it looked cartoony actually exists in the game and is driven by koopas. People are grasping at straws.

  3. Forget the billboards.. that “dorrie” individual looks like total generic garbage. Zero heart and soul just looks lifeless caricature.
