Nintendo has seen fit to update Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong to better fit their new design in the Super Mario Bros. Movie and today the company has published more artwork. This time we see a comparison between Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong in Donkey Kong Country Returns and the revised 2025 design for Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong on the left. The new Diddy Kong and Donkey Kong designs will feature prominently in the upcoming Mario Kart World for the Nintendo Switch 2, which launches on 5th June.
Now diddy kong design? Without doubt 100% better than the old one. Just wished the color of both were more vibrant.
Diddy Kong looks great- I kinda wish they didn’t change his cap though. I always found the Nintendo logo on his cap as being a very appealing design choice.
I’ve always loved the Rare Donkey Kong stuff but I’m 100% on board with these redesigns. It feels fresh.
The final step will be if they are included in the next Smash Bros AND they get their normal, cartoony voices instead of the animal noises Sakurai insists on using for them.
