The latest Japanese software and hardware charts are in from the team at Famitsu and this week’s sales sees the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2 on the market along with its launch titles. Talking of games it was Mario Kart World which shot straight to number one shifting 782K physical copies. The Nintendo Switch 2 was the inevitable No.1 in the hardware charts selling 947K though My Nintendo Store sales were apparently not included in this figure, so it’s likely to have sold over a million units in Japan alone.

So basically in a week, the Switch 2 sold more or less about what Ps5 pro and the Xbox series combined have since their respective launches. Really impressive.
Unbelievable numbers.
What’s more surprising is how much all OG versions still sold during the week.
Just by sheer numbers Nintendo can create their own gaming environment, maybe remembering players and developers not to follow just graphics, where more indies can grow. Well, there’s hope.
Sadly no they catered to that PC crowd who wanted power with Switch 2. Honestly they should have just did what they did with Switch 1 better graphics than Switch 1 but doesn’t need to go overboard and reliance on physical over digital that’s their crowd. Also no woke.
My Nintendo Store and online retailer (amazon etc) sales aren’t included.
