SEGA customer support says Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is Game-Key Card

Excitement was mounting when the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Sonic Racing CrossWorld was announced especially as the physical release appeared to be a traditional cartridge release on Nintendo’s new platform. However, that has been put into doubt today as SEGA customer support has said that Sonic Racing CrossWorld will be a Game-Key Card on Nintendo Switch 2. A SEGA customer support assistant’s word obviously cannot be taken as gospel, so hopefully all will be made clear in the coming days.

  1. I love Sonic, and while the concept of game key card is interesting it’s a waste to me who likes physical game collecting for consoles.

The Switch 2 is slowly becoming a Nintendo only console for me where I will only buy the Nintendo exclusives during the holiday sales.

Im thinking that Sonic Racing will drop drastically in 6 months from release and end up in a Humble Bundle in a year like the other Sonic games do.

  2. I should have known the bragging Sega was doing was only gonna backfire with their own dumb decisions lol. I don’t care for the game key card stuff, but it’s still a physical release somewhat, so I’ll take what I can get. Still should have been a full cartridge release though.

    1. Or you could not buy it at all and help send a message to these companies that consumers dont want these keys and they may get their sh!t together and produce a proper physical release.

      1. Nah, the message will end up being “No one buys anything other than Nintendo games on the Switch 2,” and third-party support will dry up, regardless of the medium.
