Despite lacklustre critic reviews The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is bringing in the money for both Nintendo and Illumination with the film earning $48.3 million from North American cinema chains on Friday, and is on track to bring in $129.4 million domestically by Sunday. Variety reports that the colourful animated movie should make $190 million and $200 million domestically during the first five days of release, which is a few million short of the original Super Mario Bros. Movie which released in 2023. That one achieved $204 million domestically over the five-day frame.

I just rewatched it yesterday. It got better for me. It’s probally going to make a ton a money this weekend since a lot of familys are on spring break this week and are coming home this weekend to go see the movie.

People can hate on it all they want. I actually liked the movie.
I recently watched the movie expecting to be distasteful afterwards, but I’ll say it’s composed better than the first movie. It being the 2nd movie relies on you already have seen the first one, which I think where the critics are coming from. Secondary movies usually don’t do well compared to the first, but I’ll say the Sonic movies handle it very well. But I’ll also admit these aren’t the best movies out there since it has a younger target audience, but I’m not a movie critic so what do I know.
Horrible movie. If a kid likes it thats fine but grown adults that is stupidity. Moistcritikal was right horrible movie and so are the critics.

Really no surprise there. Normies and fanboys will throw their money at this, just like the last movie. I just wish it had a better story and less memberberries. It like that… fast food of the cinema, while the brain suffers and dies of hunger. I miss the days when movies for kids and families had a good story like in those from studio ghibli. Nowadays, there is just only trash and brainrot.
It’s like over $180 million. Sad how bad middle aged brainrot is the hypocrisy is real. Minecraft movie had an actual plot this is just a mess. I like it better visually but neither is something I want to go back too. Sonic 2 remains best Hollywood video game movie. Curious if they’re fine breaking even or if they want $1 billion again or more? Thank You Sakurai for not doing this with Kirby and giving us a Kirby anime instead.
