The Game Business has published an exclusive interview with former Nintendo of America employee Reggie Fils-Aimé to ask him about a range of things including the Nintendo Switch 2, Speaking about third party support on the platform he thinks it is great if we get the latest Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty games, but says he is surprised that Microsoft hasn’t vouched more support for the platform given their new role of bringing high-profile games to other platforms like Gears of War and Halo, both of which weren’t announced for the Nintendo Switch 2. Here’s what he had to say:

“I’m surprised that Xbox has not yet fully embraced Switch 2 from a software perspective,” he says. “Certainly some games could easily be ported over to Switch 2. And I’m surprised that we haven’t seen more of that. I thought there would be much more, especially during this timeframe leading into the Holiday.

“All through the fall, I was fully expecting some dedicated announcement. And I’m surprised it hasn’t happened.”

    1. Not exactly.

No one was expecting much support from Western devs because they hate Nintendo in general. From Japanese devs, however? The support is, indeed, massive. About the only one who isn’t supporting the Switch 2 as they should is Konami, and they only resumed developing big titles very recently. Bandai is the usual late-port stuff because they’re still dumb like that. The others are doing very well.

        1. Meh, I was never a member of his fanclub. And he was proven wrong a couple of times before. Just because he gets some things right (and most of them are educated guesses), that doesn’t make his word law.

As for Microsoft, they probably got greedy with the Rog Ally and decided to try and take a slice of the portable market. Though everyone knows they’re doomed to fail.

          1. I for the life of me can’t understand their thought process on that handheld.

It’s like they were up there and said:

“Hey! How can we make this thing that only some will like, but also no one will agree with the price, let’s get it into as little hands as possible, that’ll make us richer.”

  1. The whole decision making process at Xbox seems bizarre atm. It’s been an awful year for them, own goal after own goal, so no surprise on this easy way to open your games to a new audience that they are dragging their heels over

    1. Awful? It really depends on the perspective.

Out of the big 2, they are actually the only ones releasing games.

But the business practices that they’ve been heading towards have been so damn anti consumer. It’s like theyre purposely tanking the brand.

  2. It was obvious Microsoft was lying about the breadth of their commitment to going 3rd party simply to seal the deal and avoid monopolisation accusations.
