Ubisoft still working on Beyond Good and Evil 2 as new job listings emerge

It is hard to believe but Ubisoft announced Beyond Good and Evil 2 in 2008 and since then we have seen or heard very little about the ambitious game. Following the unfortunate death of the game’s creative director Emile Morel in 2023 the game is now overseen by Fawzi Mesmar, who also worked on Star Wars Outlaws. Today, the French company has started to advertise for various roles on the long-awaited game and is recruiting a technical sound designer, lead quest designer, technical lead network programmer, and more.

The game utilises the Voyager engine, which was first revealed in 2017, and sees players seamlessly move from dense open-world cities into space. Beyond Good & Evil 2 will still have a multiplayer component judging for the request for a network programmer, which suggests that the drop in and out co-op mode is still a factor in Beyond Good & Evil 2. Here’s the newly released blurb about the game from Ubisoft:

“Beyond Good & Evil 2 is an action-adventure open world game set in a captivating space opera universe and the direct prequel to the 2003 cult classic. Based on a breakthrough technology driven by the proprietary Voyager engine, Beyond Good & Evil 2 aims to offer a seamless experience of exploration and space piracy across a solar system full of exotic locations, colorful characters and mysteries to uncover, solo or with friends. So, if you are ready for an adventure like no other, come join forces with us to build System 3!”

    1. Not trying to accuse you or anything, but I’m curious why you believe that. The way I see it, this game is just as important to most others as Metroid Prime 4 is to Nintendo fans

      1. It really isn’t game went from sequel to weird prequel and the creator left the project citing issues. It went from 360 era to PS4 to whatever it is now and creator even said it’s probably dead but Guilemots are scumbag morons so they do this same way they got in bed with China and hopefully get forced out soon enough. When Vivendi tried buying Ubisoft they scared them off by bringing in Tencent now they’re low on cash and need to pay debts they bring in Tencent at a certain point Tencent either demands full control or walks away.

      2. Personal bias honestly. Michel Ancel has an amazing legacy, but these games have tainted his name. BG&E2, and WILD. This game will either be amazing and not because of him, or fail miserably and his name will still be attached to its failure. As appose if they remain dead, then they’ll just be 2 cancelled games that never came out.

Just like Gun and Rockstar, Fable Legends and Lion Head, SWBF:3 and free radical, and the many other games that got cancelled.

To this day, I personally believe that nothing that Nintendo has produced in the 2D space comes close to Rayman Legends.

        Again, personal bias.

        1. I appreciate the honesty. Bias or not, your opinion still matters. Thanks for the insight, man.

Also, I should really play the Rayman games. I wanna replay the original since I never beat it on DSi, and then I wanna play Rayman 2. Is 3 worth it, or should I skip it and go straight to the Legends games after 2?

      1. What? Bro it will be woke slop that’s not obsessing it just is. I swear all you people do is gaslight and cope. You want to play woke slop go ahead. Also outside that this will be trash it’s ubislop this game got scrapped and restarted twice it went from sequel to prequel from serious to weird millenial humor prequel

    1. Agreed if you feel that way tell more to buy Ninja Gaiden 4 game is not woke but the anti sjw grifters refuse to promote it instead talking about Yotei which may have sold way better despite being exclusive. Actually buy the good anti woke games or else they triple on woke

  1. This is just Ubisoft making a desperate comeback attempt. Should have had this done a long time ago. Just go back to making repetitive Assassins Creed games that look like they belong on a previous-generation console.

  2. So much negativity, for what they have showed it truly looked like an incredible experience and I’d be so disappointed if they canned it after all these years.

    1. I guarantee you that most of the negative comments are bots or ai. People have been looking forward to this game for years long before it was even announced; it’s basically the Metroid Prime 4 of the third parties.

Hopefully it’ll be a good game when it does release, but we don’t know whether it’ll be good or bad until we see more of it. I respect your optimism, Tentri.

      1. Definitely not bots or AI.
People have standards. There’s a difference between making games because you want to, and then clawing at whatever might look good in the eyes of shareholders.
