Ubisoft has released more information about the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The company has seemingly performed a miracle using various systems to get the game looking as impressive as possible on the hardware, utilising things such as a variable refresh rate, baked global illumination lighting and DLSS upscaling while maintaining 30fps in both handheld and docked modes.
“All title updates released to date will be available at launch on Nintendo Switch™ 2, with the exception of the Claws of Awaji expansion, which is scheduled for February 2026. This version supports cross-progression via Ubisoft Connect, ensuring you can continue your journey seamlessly across platforms.”
“Bringing Shadows to Switch 2 was one of the toughest but most rewarding challenges I have ever tackled,” says Bruno. “We had to rethink almost everything, from the way the world is rendered to how systems interact, all while keeping the soul of the game intact.”
“The team’s top priority was keeping the game visually stunning. Assassin’s Creed Shadows was praised for its immersion and sense of scale, and players needed to feel that same magic on Switch™ 2. But actually delivering that magic while keeping our framerate target of 30 FPS in both docked and handheld modes required a careful balancing act.”

It just goes to show that if developers put in the effort, they can do whatever they want with the Switch 2…
Yasuke Simulator is better
Is that on Switch yet?
I’ll be picking this up. I’ve been impressed with the effort that Ubisoft have been putting into the Switch 2. Others should take note and follow suit, especially those that have rushed out shoddy ports cough cough
I wanted to pick this up, but I think they should have got it onto a cart, the excuses of their too slow etc, cd project done it and their games crammed. This will get heavily discounted in the near future so maybe then when it’s probably had all updates etc il get it poss.
Can’t compare, one was made on previous hardware that had slower storage.
I don’t want this. Port splinter cell and watch dogs to Nintendo switch 1 as a digital download at least. Those games can run on gamecube and wii u respectively and now greedy ubisoft uses sales numbers as an excuse to cause us to miss out.

If you need stealth shooter games, you can try metal gear.
