Ubisoft not sure if they could get Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora running on Switch 2

Ubisoft‘s visual delight Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora stunned gamers with its visuals when it launched in December 2023. Now the team has been asked whether they have any plans to bring it to the Nintendo Switch 2, seeing as Ubisoft has been a strong supporter of the platform. In a new interview, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora narrative director Aoife O’Friel and game design lead Amandine Lauer, said that they weren’t sure if they could get it running satisfactory on Nintendo’s current platform.

“Honestly, I don’t really want to wonder there, because I don’t know,” Lauer said. “That’s something we don’t know about,” O’Friel added when asked if the game would even be possible on Nintendo’s latest handheld.

“We are so focused on getting it shipped for the platforms that we targeted, and we’re also really happy that that allows us to do a lot of things, and to put a lot of quality into the graphics and all of this,” Lauer added.

  1. If CDPR can getting Cyberpunk 2077 running the Switch 2, there is NO excuses

Ubisoft is just looking for new ways to not put in effort, I mean the AC Shadows DLC is an example of their laziness

    1. Well, hold on… CDPR is one of the worst devs in the industry, complete hacks who only got 2077 running on competitor hardware because enough people called them out on their laziness. They couldn’t repeat that for Switch 2 so they actually had to do something this time. I wouldn’t use them as any sort of positive reference, had the naive delusional fanbase not exploded they would have left 2077 as it was because that’s what they thought of their fans. Any defending of them shows you are naive too, they’re the second worst developer in the industry behind R*.

As for Ubisoft, I truly hope you didn’t support Shadows given that it was intentionally written with a racist/sexist (anti-male, anti-white, admitted by lead writer Giles Armstrong) narrative and their Japanese “consultant” insisted on including child grooming/molestation in said narrative since they often write books (in a positive light) on the disgusting topic. Otherwise that would make you a racist, child grooming supporter or candidate of. We know Ubisoft is lazy, their apology to Japan for all the historical inaccuracies and bastardization barely said “I’m sorry”, and no intelligent or self-respecting gamer from any point of the factual controversy was going to support them anymore. That’s the only reason they delayed the game 3x btw, to let the heat die down. I truly hope you didn’t support either of these garbage developers, so many did and found nothing to be wrong with that…

      1. Yeah I saw that Shadows cutscene where the black samurai hits on that little Asian boy. Like wtff man. Worlds run by p3dos

    2. This is a different department and someone from a different discipline who responded to the question. They aren’t technical lead, programmers, etc. They would have to ask someone who has an idea

  2. I say it and I repeat it… if a game runs properly on the Series S, there is NO reason why it wouldn’t run properly on the Switch 2… moreover, it has features that the Series S doesn’t have… Stop giving the developers your cheap excuses…

  3. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora really pushed the visual envelope when it launched, so it’s not too surprising to hear the team express uncertainty about bringing that level of fidelity to the Switch 2. Ubisoft has a strong track record on Nintendo systems, but a game built so heavily around lush environments and high-end effects was always going to raise questions about feasibility on more compact hardware.

It’s also understandable that the developers are focused on delivering the best experience for the platforms they originally targeted. Still, it’s interesting to hear their candid take—especially with the Switch 2 shaping up to be a big part of the next gaming cycle. Even if a port isn’t on the horizon yet, it’ll be fascinating to see how studios adapt their bigger projects to Nintendo’s new hardware over time.

    Thanks for the insight, Sickr.

    Best regards,

  4. Don’t worry no one wants it. I would rather take collections Splinter Cell, Rayman, and Prince Of Persia also Beyond Good and Evil.
