Rocket League update enhances visual quality on Nintendo Switch 2 (patch notes)

The team at Psyonix has announced that they have prepared a patch for Rocket League which brings visual enhancements to the game when played on the Nintendo Switch 2. Sadly there’s no 4K resolution option as the game is now locked at 1080p when docked or played in handheld mode. However, Quality and Performance settings have been merged on the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Rocket League, using the best of both settings. Here’s the patch notes:

Nintendo Switch 2 Rendering Enhancements

  • •We’ve made a series of visual and performance improvements for Rocket League on Nintendo Switch 2.
    • Simplified Graphics Settings
      • •The Performance/Quality toggle has been removed, as Rocket League on Nintendo Switch 2 now uses the best of both settings.
    • Improved Resolution
      • •Docked mode: Resolution is now locked at 1080p, 60 FPS in docked mode.
      • •Handheld mode: Dynamic resolution now targets 1080p at 60 FPS, but will still reduce resolution as needed to keep gameplay smooth.
    • Visual Quality Upgrades
      • •Increased world detail
      • •Higher texture quality in handheld mode, matching docked mode
      • •Crisper texture detail with increased anisotropic filtering (reduces jagged lines and blurry edges on surfaces)
      • •Improved lighting effects
      • •Ambient occlusion
      • •Higher-resolution shadows

  1. Nice, the updates keep on rolling!! Can’t wait to see what’s the next updated games for Switch 2. I for one would love Witcher 3, Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal, while waiting on a release of Dark Ages as well.

  2. This update is a solid quality-of-life win for Rocket League players on Switch 2. Locking the game at 1080p and 60 FPS in docked mode brings it closer to what players expect from modern consoles, even https://casinonalu.de/ without a 4K option. Merging Quality and Performance settings also simplifies things and avoids trade-offs. The real upgrade is visual consistency, especially handheld mode now matching docked textures, better lighting, shadows, and added ambient occlusion. It won’t blow anyone away, but it makes the game cleaner, sharper, and more stable overall.
