Konami says Castlevania Belmont’s Curse isn’t going to be a roguelite game

Konami has set the record straight when it comes to the recently announced Castlevania Belmont’s Curse and it won’t be a roguelike or roguelite game. The company says that it’s a 2D action-exploration game like the previous games in the series with vast maps for you to explore and the opportunity to slay all manner of vampires, demons and the likes.

“Castlevania Belmont’s Curse is a 2D action-exploration game where players can freely explore vast, elaborately crafted maps,” Konami’s Tommy Williams told The Verge. “It is not a roguelike or roguelite game.”

    1. This game is being made by an indie studio most well know for a roguelite game – that’s where the speculation came from in the first place m

  1. I fully anticipated that this would be the case, obviously it just so happens we’ve got one of the best roguelite developers at the helm. So glad it’s gona be a proper Castlevania exploration game, and there will undoubtedly be some dead cell vibes in there which is a good thing.
But, yes as someone has also just mentioned a bonus addition of a rouge lite run through would make a nice addition, maybe as dlc or something.
I want this game to be big, with big after support with dlc etc and I want it to sell like mad and be the proper return to Castlevania.
This will undoubtedly be my most anticipated game this year unless Nintendo drop a direct with a new 2d Metroid or ocarina of time remake, then il be overloaded with excitement.

  2. If Metroidvania games were on a steep decline I could maybe see how people would have thought it was going to be a roguelike or a roguelite, but they are not only becoming more popular by the day, but are dominating the indie game market and in 2025 one of the most anticipated games ever was a Metroidvania that won the Steam prestigious game of the year award. Not to mention Dead Cells was a love letter to Castlevania and the team that made it has probably dreamed of making a Castlevania game with Castlevania mechanics.

  3. You might find it helpful to review recent updates in local legal matters. For instance, if you’re researching a specific case, the St Louis case search on provides organized access to filings, dockets, and court records. This can be especially useful for tracking ongoing trials or understanding procedural developments. Keeping informed through such resources ensures you have accurate context when discussing legal or regulatory topics.

  4. Interesting update from Konami—keeping the gameplay focused rather than turning it into another roguelite could really help preserve the classic feel fans expect from the series. While reading about game development decisions, I’ve noticed how researching structured public information can also be useful for analysis and comparisons. For example, resources like Knox Property Records provide organized data that shows how well-managed information systems improve accessibility. In many ways, clear data presentation—whether in gaming systems or public records—makes a big difference for users. Curious to see how the final mechanics will balance tradition and modern design.

  5. Interesting news! I was curious how the gameplay would differ, and it’s good to hear it won’t be a roguelite. For anyone looking into property details while gaming breaks, I often check Montgomery County properties for accurate information—it’s surprisingly easy to navigate and very informative. Excited to see how Belmont’s Curse shapes up!

  6. It’s interesting to see Konami clarify the direction of Belmont’s Curse, especially for fans hoping for a fresh take on the series. While discussing game developments, I also found some helpful insights on Property value estimate that are worth checking for anyone managing local real estate matters. It’s always fascinating how updates in different industries can spark discussions and comparisons. This definitely gives both gamers and property enthusiasts something to think about.

  7. Wow, it’s great to see Konami sticking to the classic 2D action-exploration style instead of jumping into the roguelite trend. For anyone curious about property in the area, I recently found that using a Houston property lookup can make researching land and home details so much easier. It’s really helpful for keeping track of local real estate changes and understanding assessments. Definitely a useful resource for anyone interested in property updates!

  8. It’s great to see a classic series like Castlevania staying true to its roots with 2D exploration and intricate map design. Games that encourage discovery really bring back the nostalgia for many players. If you’re curious about mapping and exploring other types of detailed systems, I found this resource on Wayne Property Lookup to be surprisingly thorough. It’s impressive how organized and easy it is to navigate large amounts of information. Definitely worth checking out for anyone interested in detailed data exploration.
