Kadokawa Group has published its latest financial report today and it states that the company is still on track to release Duskbloods and Elden Ring Tarnished Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2 this year. Those looking forward to the game were a little worried when they failed to show up during the latest Nintendo Partner Direct presentation. Presumably we should hear more about both titles soon.
Kadokawa Group financial report says Duskbloods and Elden Ring still on for 2026

I wonder if other FromSoft games are coming to Switch 2. Dark Souls Trilogy would be amazing, but I reaaalllyyy want Sekiro to get some love. Maybe it’s planned, with that anime on the horizon?
Ofc Demon’s Souls will probably stay locked on PS5 (and Bloodborne ofc), but I wonder if Nightreign is coming later as well. Well, probably, especially with The Duskbloods pushing for multiplayer, it’s probably going to start the porting process after Tarnished Edition releases. Maybe Spring 2027?
They should remake 1 and 2 then finally make 3
I forgot these games were coming out.
Nintendo publishing Duskbloods so that’s not something to be at a partner showcase
FromSoftware is publishing Duskbloods. Don’t spread misinformation.
It’s still one of the Switch 2’s most anticipated exclusives, so the rest of the point stands.
Since it’s an exclusive, there’s a good chance that Nintendo financed the game, and we know what that means with them. So I wouldn’t be surprised by a Bayonetta-like scenario. Even though there have been contrary precedents like, for example, The Wonderful 101 or Fatal Frame.
It was already stated that FromSoftware themselves are publishing the game. Also Miyazaki talked on the Creator’s Voice that the initiative of having Duskbloods as an exclusive for Nintendo came from him. What Nintendo did was to point out the Switch 2 was coming with better online features and ask him to put it there instead of the OG Switch.
TW101 was a Nintendo IP at first. However, they sold it to Platinum since, well, it was a flop but Kamiya insists that it’s such a wonderful (har har) game.
It’s probably a deal where they publish in Japan and Nintendo everywhere else
Most likely.
I would have agreed with you… in another time… nowadays, a publisher can’t afford to release a game on only one platform, it’s not profitable for them (except for Nintendo). There’s no reason other than financial for From Software to release a new game (new franchise?) on just one platform, especially such a new one, and since it’s not pixel art, this game must be very expensive… Unless it’s a temporary exclusive (which is still possible… but unlikely), Nintendo financed it, I’m sure of it.
They sort of can, though. Tokyo Scramble is another NS2 exclusive published by Binary Haze. OK, sometimes is a gamble, but it usually pays off making a Nintendo exclusive because, most of the time, Nintendo themselves handle marketing and help handle publishing. Fatal Frame only managed to have more games after 3 thanks to that.
And, if it’s true that Nintendo is having a hand at development, it’s even less likely it’s a timed exclusive. It wouldn’t be the first time; Bloodborne is trapped in Sony hell.
Sega owns Bayonetta. Nintendo owned W101 but sold the IP back to Platinum for full ownership of Astral Chain
Not misinformation normally FromSoft does not publish outside Japan. Games funded by others are published by them outside Japan Sony, Bandai Namco, now Nintendo only unique case is Seikiro and Activision where they do not own the IP.
Games don’t have to be published by Nintendo to be on main Directs. They just don’t drop Nintendo published games onto Partner Directs.
