Nintendo announces Nintendo Switch 2 price increase

Nintendo has had to cave in to the rising cost of things and has announced that it is raising the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide along with its Nintendo Switch Online subscription and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack in Japan. The Nintendo Switch 2 will now cost $499.99 / €499.99 so it’s an increase of $50 which could be worse. Nintendo told BBC Newsbeat a revised price for the UK – where a Switch 2 currently costs £395.99 – would be confirmed at a later date.

  1. Weird to live in a time where being an early adopter of a console is the best place to be at. The same thing has happened to PlayStation. Not sure if Xbox have done the same.

        1. Most people already got a the system for 500$ with Mario kart world, I don’t think this will impact the the sales that much. I mean Xbox and PlayStation keep raising their prices to stupid amounts, so Nintendo only raising their prices by 50$ is pretty reasonable. I mean there is a war going on right now that’s heavily impacting trade, so this is understandable.

          1. Yeah no I’m not blaming Nintendo all that much for raising the price, the issue stands from the global situation as a whole, tech consumer products in general are becoming pricier and that’s awful. Also I wouldn’t say “most people’’ haven’t know anyone in real life who still have a switch 2 so idk.

            1. Yeah I don’t blame Nintendo too. I blame Trump because he view in his own eyes to protect domestic industries from foreign competition, raise government revenue in the US, and correct trade imbalances for the federal government. This is not making the country great again. I still have my Switch 2 but its ok that no one have theirs yet. I fear that Nintendo might have lost the lawsuit to the US government.

          2. A war that very much was 100% avoidable, and tarrifs that im the end got pocketed by corps and the current administration and their rich friends

Got a clown for a president

You are absolutely right, the war could have been avoided if the country that supports suppressing women, supports child marriages, killing anyone who criticizes the regime, their “Bible” supporting killing anyone who isn’t part of their “culture”, their “prophet” being a child predator, is adamant about building nukes, is funded by the Democrats, Russia and China and chants ‘death to America’. Totally avoidable. Not to mention ram shortages.

The pot calling the kettle black…
The only one who started this war is Taco Trump.
The only pedophile is Taco Trump for associating with Epstein.

              2. But you don‘t really believe that was the reason to start a war just like that? That were justifications, but just like with Saddam, the reasons were very old school political ones which ultimately goes down to money & power. Same with Venezuela.

    1. At least it’s only a $50 increase and games are cheaper. So it kinda balances out?

Praying this AI bubble pops ASAP, utter nonsense it’s gotten this bad. But it’ll happen eventually. It’ll go back down by then, since it seems Nintendo was being pressured for ages and raised it as little as they could. Same with accessories and amiibo. Once those nonsense tariffs are done with, we’ll see things come back down to the normal prices they launched at in JP/EU.

Hopefully things improve soon. In the grand scheme of things they’ll turn out good and great, but weathering the storm— whether it’s as a fan or even as the business— is never really much fun. Better times ahead, I hope. But at least in the big picture things are as good as they can be given the circumstances. Like those cheaper digital games and cheaper physical releases, only $5 – $10 increases on accessories etc., and the movie was great! All things considered it isn’t so bad I think.

We’ll all be fine, especially with time

  2. Hate to see it. Glad I got my MK Bundle day one. Feel so bad for people who want to get a console now, same with those who want to get into PS5. This just sucks all around.

  3. I hate to see the price be increase because PlayStation and Xbox is doing the same thing for their products. The fact reminds that the idiot president still want’s to make the US great again in his own eyes which he clearly won’t.

    1. Yeah. It’s not a middle-eastern war or tariffs from the US. It’s the AI bubble every company decided to invest in.

Well it was inevitable mostly because of the RAM shortages. At least it’s not that much more expensive.

    1. Yes for now because the ram stortages and of course the parts for the Switch 2 system they did during development and if they are planning for a new version of it, then it will be much expensive in Japan and other countries as well depending on the ongoing events that is currently happening now.

  5. The Japanese price went up 10k yen.
But it’s because of American tariffs NOT over investment into AI.

  6. Now I am so glad I didn’t listen to all those YouTubers telling me not to buy the NS2. That “advice” aged like milk.

  7. Kinda glad I got mine when I did. Even back then I was thinking “even if there’s nothing really good out for it now besides Donkey Kong, at least I have it for later for when more games come out.”
