Pokemon Champions producer explains how they decide which Pokemon to include

In a new interview with Nintendo Dream Pokemon Champions producer Masaaki Hoshino has covered a range of questions about the free-to-start game. One question which was directed to Hoshino was how they decide which Pokemon will appear in Pokemon Champions. He said they refer to Game Freak’s, Shigeki Morimoto, who carefully thinks through which Pokemon should be added and the benefit they will provide the player. Here’s what was discussed:

Will all Pokemon appear in Pokemon Champions?

At first it will be a set selection of Pokemon appearing. Then we expect to establish divisions using set rules.

How do you decide which Pokemon will appear?

In order to do this Game Freak’s Shigeki Morimoto thinks along with the development team members. The timing to introduce Mega Evolutions is being very carefully considered.

Generally, will the Pokemon that appear be mostly ones that do not evolve further?

To start, we will be introducing Pokemon that allow the battles to be played in a way where players can easily understand ‘which Pokemon is strong’. Clefairy and Porygon 2 may appear in the future, but first we are placing importance on the ‘ease of understanding for players just starting out with battles’.

How will Terastallization and other special elements be added?

An item called the Omni Ring was made to handle all special features. Balancing these is extremely difficult so we plan to proceed very carefully. First we will allow players to use Mega Evolutions.

      1. I Moved to Palworld

Call of Duty doesn’t sell two copie of the same exact game every time theres a new entry. People have found out that every pair of Pokémon games are exactly the same, you change one lone of code in the file and it becomes the opposite version. Then they make you have to buy the DLC twice, then the overall gameplay, quality, and experience of all Switch and Switch 2 Pokémon games are just horrible. Like worse than horrible. I Loved Pokemon, I completed the Living National Dex, Event Pokémon included from the GBA all the way through the 3DS games though the 3DS games are definitely where the decline started.

  1. ICheatedOnHerWithATetromino

I am the man who arranges the blocks
That descend upon me from up above.
They come down and I spin them around
Til they fit in the ground like hand in glove.

  2. I stay away from Modern Pokemon like the plague. I bought Fire Red on Switch though. I won’t buy Pokopia because it’s overpriced, downloadable only, small, has Modern Pokémon. I’m Mainly okay with Red and Blue up to Black and White 2. X and Y start to push things, hated Sun and Moon though.

    1. Modern Pokemon can be garbage, but you have to try pokopia. There is a ton of content in it and it’s only a 6 gigabyte download. The worst part about it is that it’s a game key card, but the game itself is fantastic!

  3. Therapy? Never heard of it.

Man I sure love Pokemon discourse on this website.
What a joy it is to see such mature, well-adjusted people calmly discuss their moderate opinions on a children’s monster catching game.

  4. Pokémon was never good, turn based boring garbo..

Nintendo’s milk machine will always fool clowns though 🤡
