Square Enix has given fans a look at Dragon Quest XII today. The company says that it has had a number of problems while in development and that the team has rebooted the game from scratch. The game is now called Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams and Square Enix says it is still a way off from release. However, the team revealed the first trailer for Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams which you can watch down below.

No you’re initial reaction is right it looks bad it looks like a bad imitation of Akira Toriyama art rendered like CGI from Fortnite but worse and cheaper.
It looks ugly this does not look like Toriyama it looks like Toyotaro drew it or someone else on the team. The character designs look so bad. I’m curious all the issues this suffered. I think they should have brought in someone like Nakaba Suzuki to draw it. The character models also looked rough compared to environments some of the buildings look off too. How far away is this? They should do one of these for Kingdom Hearts 4 also.
Bird studio will not be the same without Toriyama. Not sure how or if they continue but yeah going Seven Deadly Sins/Four Nights Of The Apocalypse may be the move. The co-creator of Beet had a similar style and went to university with Toriyama also the Dragon Quest anime is based on his manga.
Honestly I say without him let the series end same with Dragon Ball which should have ended with GT or Z take your pick. I’ll defend GT especially that ending the anime staff did great on it. But with this just let the series end, it’s up to Japan though they decide. They didn’t like DBS so the anime was cancelled it’s only coming back because western sales of the movies and manga which are trash, Dragon Quest doesn’t have the same luxury.

As someone who has never really played DQ before, I do want to play 11 and the 7 reimagine one day.
Is it an action real-time RPG or turn-based?
So we finally see what the hero of twelve looks like. His design is decent, but I was expecting a femboy so the bar was low. If I didn’t give up on my idea for a super Smash bros where every fighter besides the miis had 12 costumes, I would have included this as Heroes 12th costume.

This looks awful. RIP Akira Toriyama but this looks horrible can we get a Blue Dragon remake that actually looked good. 11 looks amazing and is amazing this looks like some cheap imitation curious how Japan feels most don’t know they don’t like Dragon Ball Super over in Japan whole reason it was cancelled but manga and movie sales are stronger overseas so it gets some push and a new anime now.
Honestly, I want them to take their time and listen to fans. Do they want to make money or not?
