Xbox CEO says Call of Duty is bigger than the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Call of Duty continues to be widely popular and the next iteration of the franchise will finally be making its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2. Xbox has a number of IPs after its successful acquisition of Bethesda and Activision-Blizzard and is joining the likes of Sony and Nintendo in bringing its gaming franchises to the big screen. Speaking about Call of Duty the new Xbox CEO, Asha Sharma, said that the franchise is actually bigger than the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that they have lots of plans to build the franchise beyond gaming with the new movie which is coming out in 2028.

You won’t see us try to become the biggest linear provider in the world or anything like that, but I think great games are culture, and culture is entertainment.

If you think about it, we’ve got the number two show of all time on Amazon [Fallout], Minecraft was top 5 in 2025, Call of Duty is bigger than the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it all measures. [There’s] more appetite to work with us on titles than ever before.

    1. I’d argue COD is in the same boat as Marvel not bigger or smaller. Marvel relied way too much on bad movies and it ruined everything else, DC same without the big box office success we have nothing good.

        1. Both are trash. Gunn and Snyder suck and don’t get DC. Wan had the only good movie with the first Aquaman and Affleck was a good Batman.
