Nintendo has announced that two previously unreleased Virtual Boy titles are being added to the Nintendo Classics library. D-HOPPER (originally known as Dragon Hopper), an action-adventure game developed by Intelligent Systems but was never released due to the low sales of the Virtual Boy, and ZERO RACERS, a cancelled spin-off of the F-Zero series developed by Nintendo, will both be available for the first time on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on 4th August 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.
To play these games (or any of the others available on the Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics app), you’ll also need the headset replica that the Nintendo Switch (or Switch 2) system can be inserted into in handheld mode for an authentic Virtual Boy experience, or the cheaper cardboard variant, both of which are available to purchase from Nintendo’s website.
Additionally, music from five Virtual Boy games have been added to the Nintendo Music streaming service: Wario Land, Mario’s Tennis, Mario Clash, Galactic Pinball, and Teleroboxer. The Nintendo Music app is a free download on iOS and Android, and you can also now listen in a web browser, as long as you have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
I would pay 200+ each if Nintendo were to just manufacture new physical copies of these two unreleased games for the original hardware. Same for StarFox 2 and EarthBound Beginnings.
