Nintendo Switch 2 Version 23.0.0 adds VRR support for TV mode and Mii Maker music (patch notes)

Nintendo has released a firmware update for Nintendo Switch 2, as well as the original Switch, bringing the entire family of systems to Version 23.0.0. Switch 1 owners have a much shorter list of patch notes, mainly just adding the ability to play virtual game cards using a temporarily “online license” when unable to transfer the game from another console. The latest Switch 2 update on the other hand, adds quite a few other exciting new features.

Support for VRR output in TV mode is now available, matching the refresh rate of the video output (on compatible TVs) with the framerate of the game itself for a smoother experience. Background music can now play in the Mii Maker, just like on Wii, with three different track options to swap between, and Miis can now be shared between systems using QR codes. There are plenty more firmware additions, tweaks, and improvements this update, so make sure to check out the patch notes below.
