Pokemon developers Game Freak have been working on a super-colourful new iOS and Android game titled Rainy Day, Sunny Girl which is set to feature magical girls who draw power from real-world weather data across Japan. The idea for the game started from a simple laundry forecast idea according to Pokemon director Shigeru Ohmori who leads the project. Pokemon magical girls(?) magic power battler was not on my bingo board lmao but this looks shockingly really high quality and pretty good. Funnily enough it looks like something that is copying Pokémon, despite being made by the pokemon devs LOL. I hope it also comes to Switch too. It feels weird this the 2nd new IP they’ve done not on Nintendo consoles. I miss the days of Harmoknight and Little Town Hero lol…

Another magical girl inspiriting Pokémon like style? Not planning on playing it but it looks truly fun.
The weather-based idea is such a fun twist for a mobile game. Using real weather data to affect the characters could make things feel different depending on where you are or what the day’s like. I’m curious how much the gameplay will actually change with the forecast. I also find character-driven games interesting, especially ones built around dialogue and branching stories, like this AI game hub. Definitely curious to see what Game Freak shows at TGS!
