Nintendo and Ubisoft partnered for a Zelda game that was eventually canned

A new undisclosed Ubisoft project has come to light and it involved Ubisoft Milan and Nintendo. The company pitched a game set in the world of The Legend of Zelda staring an unknown protagonist and the game was titled Project Goliath. Nintendo liked what it saw from Ubisoft but wanted the game to star Ganondorf as the main character. Ubisoft complied, but the project ultimately fell through. The Legend of Zelda game from the now defunct Ubisoft Milan started out in 2022 and was pitched in 2023. It’s not clear why Nintendo decided to cancel the game.

  1. A Ganondorf starring game would be really interesting. I could see it being similar to (old) God of War or Shadows of Mordor. A prequel set before Ocarina of Time during the Hyrulean Civil war where we see dorf as a leader of gerudo bandits. I have suspected for a while that Nintendo wants to separate Ganondorf the man from Ganon the immortal evil, as well as multiple incarnations like link and zelda, and the plot of tears of the kingdom seemed to be pushing in that direction. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Ganondorf show up as a benevolent leader of the Gerudo in the next mainline game.

  2. They were probally like “we gave you guys star fox and that game flopped, why would we give you Zelda”
If any of you are confused, Ubisoft made Star link which had a star fox expansion in 2018, that game flopped.

  3. Thank goodness. Ubisoft is by far the worst name in video games. I honestly have more hate for Ubisoft than I do my own sexual abuser from summer camp. What a bunch of talentless, incompetent frauds.
