Nintendo: Nintendo’s E3 2009 Press Conference Highlights

Satoru Iwata

There were some surprising revelations at Nintendo’s E3 press conference today with some new key titles revealed.

Whilst speculation was rife regarding what the ultra-secretive Nintendo would announce I can now confirm that New Super Mario Brothers Wii and Wii Fit Plus were revealed, though to a thoroughly non-responsive crowd.

The overall atmosphere thankfully changed for the better as Nintendo causally left the best for last by announcing the sublime Super Mario Galaxy 2 and the frankly awesome looking Super Metroid: Other M. Both of these fresh, exclusive Wii titles took the audience by storm creating a buzz that reverberated throughout the entire conference hall.

    • It started off rather dire but picked up immediately after Super Mario Galaxy 2 was announced. Everyone was hoping for a new Zelda title but alas it never happened.

  2. but isn’t it possible for Nintendo to still announce new items up until Friday? A lot of companies like to wait until later to reveal big stuff to get a larger reaction.

    • I’m doubtful but it’d be great to hear some additional announcements. Shame the majority of major titles won’t be released until 2010 :(
