Nintendo Wii: Zelda Skyward Sword To Have Multiplayer, Online Integration And DLC?

Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has revealed to online gaming publication GameInformer that his team are tinkering with the idea of downloadable online content and possibly a multiplayer mode for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

- “Having people play together is a theme that’s always stuck in my mind, but it’s about trying to create what would work best for Legend of Zelda.”

- “”Let’s say a player does something in their game that affects an area, and then that is communicated back to another system, and that would introduce new elements to your game. I find that sort of communication really interesting.”

- “We have thought about DLC, and we are thinking about it.”

  1. Interesting. I hope they can do it without having it entirely based upon Friend Codes. What about those who don’t have any friends with a Wii, or those whose friends don’t use it, and hate Zelda anyway?

      Ha!

…but yes, this is a good idea so far. It could go into “excellent” territory if it can be done without FC’s.

  2. No, I think it’ll focus mainly on FC’s. At least for the unlocking stuff. Multiplayer, (assuming we see it AND it goes online) will probably be both FC and random, much like Guitar Hero and SSBB. But when I read that line…

That’s the sort of shit I remember them trying to do with the Oracles games. It didn’t have that much of an effect (with the exception of a secondary quest once the game was done), but I can see them going pretty far with this. Maybe to the point where you can do a secondary quest that relies on your ability to interact with other people to complete objectives, and beat the story. Almost like an online tag-you’re-it Four Swords game.Pure speculation, but it’d be pretty badass XD

    • @communication
I rather think it´s about some sort of communication between the three save-files on the system. Much like on Galaxy 2 now.
But if it is online I don´t think its about co-op or anything like that. More like “voting channel” if a majority of gamers does this, or that, it effects the looks or a certain area of a game. And it is communicated without you knowing it much of the time.
