Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has told the Nihon Keizai Shimbun that the company wishes to avoid the same software droughts that have plagued the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS.
“It’s important that you be able to supply software with no pause. With the DS and Wii, following the titles that were released at launch, the momentum dropped when there was a gap in software releases. We’re making plans so that this type of thing won’t happen.”
– Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president

good idea for sure
Good, that last drought with the Wii and DS was big. I hope to get my system as soon as possible.

Great! I would hate not being able to buy it when I go to the store,
Well this is good to know! Now when people crack the region lock, they will have better incentive to pirate! haha, I kid, but this is the unfortunate truth!
I hope this means we have consistent releases of QUALITY games. I’d love to see Paper Mario come out a month after the system’s release, followed by Mario Kart a month or two after that. If that’s what they mean by consistent software releases, then I’m all for it.
Wishful thinking.
Make sure there’s no 3DS drought either!
Maybe there wouldn’t have been a gap if they released the Mother trilogy.

Smart but kind of annoying move. Those droughts were what allowed me to buy other things, like my iPod. I don’t get much money so this might be challenging if I’m buying a 3DS game every month.
