Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Lands At Number Nineteen

Square Enix’s well received Theatrhythm Final Fantasy for Nintendo 3DS took the number nineteen spot in the UK all format charts this week. Although a few of you will be wondering whether this is something worth celebrating, you should remember that Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure completely missed the UK top 40 when it launched in April.

      1. How is it a “lazy game”?… Because it’s not a fully fledged 100 hour RPG?… It doesn’t claim to be. It’s just a spin off title. Doesn’t mean all rhythm or music games are lazily or badly produced.

          1. Because it’s more than just music. Why is Guitar Hero/Band Hero a best selling game when I can get all the music for free?

            1. The guitar Gimmick = Loved by casuals :P Casuals sell products. That’s why Wii Sold like hotcakes. Was something different.

              1. The amount of hours put into Guitar Hero by a good majority of it’s player-base would argue against being called ‘casual’

        1. FF13 is def not fully fledged :P Just one long tunnel with terrible characters who whine and moan :P

        2. HE MAN is right. It is lazy. Besides it’s celebrating the great times of FF with Uematsu as game composer. He’s long gone now so FF is a pile of crap now without him or Sakaguchi

          1. Yeah, beacause he is dead, right? Get your facts right, Uematsu still works for Square as a freelancer. He done all scores for FF XIV and, whether it’s a broken game or not, doesn’t matter. It’s Uematsu soundtrack and it’s amazing. And he is not the only talented composer from SE. Yoko Shimomura does amazing scores to.

            1. When I meant long gone I meant hes moved on from Square. Yes I know there are other composers but this is about the FF guy. Dont forget Koji Kondo

    1. I agree, it’s a quality game that’s hardly recognised because it’s a more casual game for a more heavy gamer series.

      1. not rly casual. People whol will buy this are obviously FF fans. FF games are not casual unless your a 13 fanboy/girl. Try playing the hard FFs like 4 and 5 and 3 :P

    1. It’s a spinoff, not a main series game. There’s probably another Final Fantasy in production, and there are many different developers including those who have good ideas, such as this game. I think it’s a great game, and while not a must-have, it’s one of the greater quality games I own.

      1. That’s what worries me. That there is another FF being made. It will end up like shit like 13 and 13-2. All Glossy and shiney but with no substance. I guess the good thing about this 3ds game is that it reminds you of the times when FF was such a well respected franchise. Everything below 10 were either good or amazing. I prefer dragonquest RPGs anyway :)

        1. That’s pretty much my main concern too. You’re correct when it comes to the crappy newer games that look good, but they just aren’t what they used to be. Square Enix really need to look back.

I also prefer Dragon Quest games, the only reason I still have my PS2 is so I can play DQ VIII: Journey of the Cursed King.

          1. Great game man. I ripped the ps2 cd onto my PC so I am running it in 1080p :P Not illegal since I own the cd hehe!

On topic: I feel a game celebrating Uematsu’s work (most of it anyway) is notthe way forward. I would rather prefer an Album of his work. Dont give a shit about the forgetable FF13 soundtrack.

Dragonquest’s music is masterful. Playing dragquest 5 atm. Got 4 and above. Cant wait for X for wiiU!

        2. This game is pretty Ironic since Uematsu the music composer left the FF franchise and Square :P FF died when he left. Most of the music/all of it is his work. One of the greatest music composers of all time in game history

  1. Would help if any shops sold it. I looked in GAME, HMV, Morrisons etc on Friday and nowhere had it. Useless!

    1. Games like this should be preordered. Otherwise it’s nearly impossible to get your hands on them in stores until the popularity dies down.

Otherwise, you can always shop online. I know in my region, two online retailers are already offering it 25% off.

  2. I own all FF games except XI for obvious reasons. Theatrhythm is a good game and listening to the tunes takes me back. It would be neat if they remade some old FF games with this art style.

    1. already released. FACEPALM. HOW FUCKING THICK CAN YOU BE!!!! ITSIN THE CHARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      JESSSSSSSSSUS!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. No need to get mad, though you do make a good point for people IN THE UK REGION. (But it has been released everywhere else)

  3. Nintendo Fanboys are Fucking GAY!!

I just wanted to prove that HEMAN was lying.

yeah, you really blocked my IP and hid my posts…

    NICE TRY FUCKTARD! XD

      1. HEMAN IS A LYING FUCKTARD

Fucking weasel said he blocked me from the site because i called him out for trolling me.

        1. Saw the comment. He actually said Sickr (the owner) will block you if you continue to insult people. It has happened with past people.

  4. I have been playing the demo and it was great,i dont like these genre of games but the game looked awesome

  5. The game was good on the demo and that was just two songs. Looking forward to getting it. And HE MAN, did you actually play 13 and 13-2 for more than 10 hours? Because they’re not that bad.

    1. They are actually bad. In no way they are good, apart from graphics. It is just a tedious bore fest. Play the old FFs if you havent and you will realise why FF was so great and crumbled into a pile of crap.

  6. Theatrhythm is actually pretty fun and I love the music. It’s a different type of game. That’s all. Also, it’s not as casual as some may have you think, it can get pretty challenging too. Here’s the full list:
