I really think they should. I’ve really been dissapointed with the last two nintendo consoles (Wii and 3DS) and I’ve not been impressed with the WiiU. I do, however, freaking love Zelda and Mario and other nintendo franchises. I’ve also heard Nintendo games being the only reason people are buying a WiiU or have a 3DS, which means they would do fine as a software company.

I HIGHLY doubt that they would be ignored if they went software only. Their competition obviously sees how valuable they are, so why would the ignore the chance to have games made by NIntendo on their consoles? While Nintendo certainly has no reason to go software only, it would remove some of the unnecessary gimmicks from the next generation.

Sonys big problem is they tried to kill arcade gaming also. They actively block snk from make ps1/2 games and if you notice snk barely has a game on any system and they once where the powerfulest console makers.
Notice how many of the arcade creative favorites are dead now. Sony is not helping by only supporting movie games. Sega had a similar fixation when they tried to go 3d before it was ready.
Sony has one more console… This is a very successful Saturn for them. They better figure out how to make Sony movie games fun and how to make franchises people want to play.
Just like how sega was ignored and every one panned their sonic games. Just like how snk had to do only download games after Sony black balled them.
If you go software only suddenly projects don’t get approved and you do relies Nintendo would have to pretty much change who they are just to keep a profit.
They would loose all of the income associated with being a hardware maker. They would also loose a voice in their field of expertise and it would be really easy to black ball them out of gaming. Yet maybe that is your point you obviously don’t like what they produce.

Ms and Sony should create their own market. Those two don’t exsist to make arcade, console or video games. It would be a sad day for Mario if they stopped making hardware. Much of the Wii’s design was based around what they wanted to do with mario in the galaxy game… the same goes for SM64 and N64.

Well tell the foolish what they did? We had hd gaming on pc, we had online on pc, we had movie games since wingcommander. We had cd gaming on pc, we had pretty much every thing those two offer on pc.
Yet they cheapen pc games so that now you can’t even get a pc game that uses your hardware and then they made online gaming cost money or barely work since we can’t make our own servers now.
Before the Xbox ms was hated by every old enough to drink. Sony I guess is ok but they need to start making more games. We got movies and they are great.
The hd devs that need more power should go to the pc and the ones wanting to make console games should start making console game rather than nurtured pc games.

Nintendo doesn’t need to stop making consoles… however, Microsoft should stop making consoles. I mean by god their consoles are either a fire hazard waiting to happen or a piece of junk that will break within a matter of days.

Some one needs to make a video about why Microsoft should leave the console industry. Ever since the xbox showed up FPS have confused 1/4 of the American gamer. When it was Sony and Sega against Nintendo, gaming was marvelous. So if the kinect fools just stuck to their beloved windows software all shall be wonderful.
