Wii U GamePad Replacements Will Be Issued For A Fee

A Nintendo of America customer service representative has confirmed that Wii U GamePad replacements will be available for a fee. Nintendo of America has already said that Wii U GamePad’s will not be available for purchase separately. This isn’t such a big deal as there are no games which currently support the use of two GamePad’s.

    1. Depends. I broke my PS3 when it fell of my TV stand, it was replaced for free. It just depends on what you said happen and the damage. It also depends on the warranty enclosed with the bundle. Either way when you buy certain hings from gamestop they offer a warranty.

People instead of crying about the long wait till 11/18/12, how about we make this waiting game fun & easy, go to sleep on time Monday-Saturday and on Sunday practice getting up super early so when 11/18 comes we can be the first ones in line lol.

  1. No surprise. I’m sure it’ll be something miniscule or free if its under warranty. I’m not to concerned. If you take care of your things you’ll have nothing to worry about.

    1. The problem is that people with a warranty automatically feel entitled to have everything replaced for free even if its their fault, Contradictory to what Nintendo believes which is warranty is only valid when it was a screw up on the manufacturing, not when you threw it at the Tv or when you dog chewed on it.

  2. Hopefully Nintendo will sell us some type of protecting kit like screen protects (like for the 3DS) and a case with some bubble wrap and strong material.

  3. was anybody really expecting nintendo to hand out free game pads to anyone who broke their own? they’ll repair them within guarantee time ofc but why would they give you a new one

      1. Then you have a warranty and they have to replace it for free, but if an idiot like you goes along and breaks it that you better have your wallet ready.

        1. No shit? You think I can’t fucking read, you stupid faggot? He’s implying that’s the only way they’ll be charging fees.

  4. It’d be good for them to supply replacements. Some buyers got more than one kid living with em, and those other kids are jealous enough to break costly high tech like the gamepad that was intended for the one that deserved it.

    1. i have this game for PC…. its true, buggy as hell, even patch 1.5 didnt solve all problems. But, about the game? i think you just cant compare those two games, su much difference. Sleeping Dogs is a buggy game but its actually not a bad one, nothing extreme special but solid. And i have no problem with nsmb2 too….

      1. yeah but you will be surprise what aeolus and ness said when this game and nsmb2 came out said quote ” this game is better than nsmb2 because its sold more and its “original and its not a “rehash” ” they said it the chart on sales a week later after nsmb2 came out on the us.

  5. Thing with Nintendo stuff is that their consoles tend to have low destruction rate. So basically it breaks, you probably did something wrong. Now their handhelds on the other hand? Almost every DS I’ve had needed to be sent back because the R+L buttons stopped working

  6. Do you guys think that when i go to gamestop and get wii u deluxe, they will let me open it there, take out the game, trade it in for $60,and get another game?Because i don’t want nintendoland, and i don’t want to pay 60 dollars if i don’t want to.

        1. Even if it was brand new. They make you open the game and they give you like 20 bucks on the spot for it. Brand new unopened game to us is used game to them. But their new game is sitting on the display shelve opened selling at full price. Thats GameStop policy.

    1. Sh*t dude that sucks. Go to walmart. I heard they’ve a special bundle going where you can chose your own game to start off with, as well as your own color of Wii remote plus. It does cost essentially 50$ more to get that bundle

  7. Understandable. I’ve been a video game enthusiast since 1985 and have never broken or damaged any controller I’ve owned, but it’s good to know Nintendo has a policy in place from day one for parents with accident-prone kiddies.

      Fix’d

  8. A little off topic but I was wondering: Does anyone know how many Wiis (not U) were available for pre order in 2006? And how fast they sold out? I think a comparison to the Wii U performance will be interesting.

    1. Pay no attention to this username

I don’t know but from what I’ve heard the premium bundle preorder has been really strong. Gamestop, Best Buy and apperantly Target are no longer taking preorders for that bundle.

  9. Toys r us are still selling the deluxe edition wii u pre order it fast!!! GameStop said when I went there that they were going to stop selling the basic wii u after today Pre order it fast!!!

    1. You can’t compare those… I mean Wii U game pad is a controller and technically part of the console. They will eventually sell them so you can just go to the store and get one if you need it, but comparing it to the Ipad is comparing it to a different industry.

  10. I was just at GameStop last night. I walked through the doors and proudly declared….. TAKE MY FREKIN MONEY in exchange for one of those Wii u delux editions :)

  11. So… we aren’t getting games that support two gamepads? Well, maybe we could hope for third-party controllers, though that would be a little unlikely given the nature of the controller.
