The Cave On Wii U Uses GamePad For Camera And Character, Will Look Identical To 360, PS3

Chris Remo, community manager and writer at Double Fine Productions, has told Joystiq that The Cave for Wii U will utilise the GamePad for camera and character switching. The publication says that the GamePad is simply a glorified character selector and camera controller, and that’s it. Remo also stated that the game will be pretty much identical to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions.

“So other than that, it pretty much plays like all the other versions. We did work really hard to ensure that visually everything you’re seeing is identical to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, so there’s no downscaling, there’s nothing going on that is not up to par with the other next-gen systems. There’s nothing super wacky going on, but it’s a completely full-featured version of the game.”

    1. I highly doubt THIS game (The Cave) is CPU demanding, Metro and Crysis are CPU demanding…. have you ever played a PC game?

      XBOX 360 specs:
      10 MB eDRAM
      RAM: 512 MB unified ram (both system and games or in other words RAM and VRAM “2in1″)
      GPU: ATI X series 1800

      PS3 specs:
      RAM: 512 MB split ram (256 MB VRAM dediated to games aka GPU and another 256 MB dedicated to system)
      GPU: nVidia 7800

      Wii U specs:
      RAM: 1GB VRAM (games) + 1 GB RAMRAM (system)
      They said Wii U has 32 MB eDRAM………
      Official IBM site also says it has eDRAM: “IBM’s embedded dynamic random access memory (test chip shown here) will help deliver a thrilling new game experience to Nintendo fans. The new memory technology, a key element of the new Power microprocessor that IBM is building for the Nintendo Wii U console, can triple the amount of memory contained on a single chip, making for extreme game play. ”
      GPU: AMD HD radeon series (not X series), we dont know whats exactly inside but obiviously that means its stronger than PS3/60 GPU (not on par)

      Conclussion:

      Im 100% sure this game is not CPU demanding, its more RAM/GPU demanding for sure and why the game looks the same? id say its due to laziness, its obivious.

    2. No. It must be the tricky GPGPU based architecture. The game is being designed for Xbox and ps3 architecture which are more CPU based. So if you put that code on wiiu it struggles. But then if you change some stuff around, then you can start to think about making it look a lot better on wiiu.

Xbox 360 has a weak inline cpu with a old fashioned half speed catch 3.2cores and 1.6 ghz catch thats some old fashioned shit right there….and it does game code sound io and os and graphics assistence…. The wiiu has in the same place as x360scpu a tricore custom out of order cpu with custom edram catch at full speed a dedicated HD surround sound processor and a ARM co cpu for io os so the wiiu has 2cpus and 1 sound dsp vs the x360s cpu only Weak /lame.   2. this is a joke, maybe they don’t play rayman legends. if rayman legends can play on 1080p 60 fps native, then this game can do also. so if this game is not better then the other console’s, then is the problem the developers!!

    1. All developers are holding back. Because they don’t want to put by far the best most content rich games on wiiu so it’s not unfair to ps3 and 360 gamers. Like fifa on wiiu , the graphics are BETTER on wiiu , the Grass and crown look crazy on the demo and I have the game on 360. Looks blatently better on wiiu. But they left out features on the wiiu version and added in some rather questionable ones.

      If it had everything , people would get jealous…

      1. I’m not sure this argument makes any sense. Why would developers deliberately withhold awesome content? I really don’t think they care about people getting “jealous.” For years content was excluded from Wii versions of multiplat games, no developers seemed to care about jealousy then.

      Rayman Legends was built for WiiU, thats why it looks amazing. The Cave is multiplatform so of course they arent going to try out do one from another.

But a shitty port on a console designed with low power consumption in mind is a shitty port on a console with low power consumption in mind…

        1. Assassins creed 3 is fine. I have it :) .It runs perfectly. About the same as ps3 and 360. 25-45FPS …

          Assassins creed for the majority runs PERFECTLY. But every now and again gets a bit stuttery when your in cities. It seems a bit moody.

          But the same thing happens on Ps3 and 360 :S

      1. It is a great game, especially since you will get all DLC for free, all DLC :). The play on the Wii U game pad is seamless and beautiful. Frame rate issues are only at some very few points, only in a few FMV the videos were probably not patched by the porters. These I do know can be fixed by simple patches from WD game studios. They game is wonderful and cheap :).

  3. according to FANBOYS a tri core cpu with only 1 execution unit per core and a half clock speed sram 1mb catch is better than a

    tri core out of order 2012 released cpu with over 15 execution units and 3mb edram custom catch at full cpu speed plus a hd lpcm dedicated dsp sound processor and a ARM co cpu

    i fail to see how 2 cpus and a dsp is weaker than a single cpu inline with a tiny catch memory IDIOCY IS IDIOCY THATS SIMPLE FACT
    the wiiu cpu has 12 x more catch than wii and 3 x more catch than x360 and 6 x more catch than ps3

    even if we include the ps3s spu local ram 256k each into ps3s catch it still only comes to a total of 2.5mb vs wius 3mb of pure high bandwidth edram

    wiiu cpu cores can compress data at 4to1 and 2to1 also totally missing from ps3 and x360 so a average of 2to1 plus data compression is capable on wiiu making ram and catch and bandwidth and disc loading seem far far more powerful

    at 4to1 compression wiiu cpu catch becomes 12mb I REST MY CASE
