Nintendo and Sony have both seen their stock prices rise following today’s Xbox One announcement from Microsoft. Nintendo saw a rise of around 2.2 percent, while Sony saw a rise of 9.3 percent. We should remember that Nintendo’s shares also rose when Sony hosted the PlayStation 4 presentation in February. On February 22nd Sony’s U.S shares were down 2.7 percent to $14.08 by midday, with Nintendo’s shares up 2 percent to $11.79

Original Xbox had plenty of good games. Halo, PGR, MechAssault, Rallisport Challenge, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, JSRF, Morrowind, Unreal Tournament, plus a bunch of other good exclusives. People just forgot because it was discontinued early.
It was big because it had an internal hard drive and internal power supply (both of which appear to be in the One as well, hence its notable girth). And I actually preferred the big controller over the S, for some reason. :P
Oh, and although it was paid, it had the best online setup of that generation. Still waiting for Halo 1 to have the proper online play that it was meant for…

I had it and enjoyed it, but at the same time hated it. The games I had were fun yet I don’t know of it was just mine, but it took forever for it to be able to read the discs and I never used live since I needed a wired connection and had to pay.

It will not be as successful as the 360 probably last place this gen. You need a Kinect for it to work and have to pay a fee for used games, and most likely have to pay for live, I think ps4 will be number one if it is priced right 400? I would made the Wii u number one but the specs are not future proof unless they come out with updated versions with better specs.
Coming up with an updated Wii U will mean that games built for those higher specs won’t be played on old Wii U’s. This isn’t something Nintendo will do. The most that may happen is improved speakers or tablets, much in the way they’ve come out with handhelds like DS Lite and 3DSXL. They don’t want to alienate early adopters.
Ya, for reasons concerning the consumer, Nintendo cannot update the spec of the new Wii U unless it was adding Blu-Ray drives or updated storage. Otherwise it would make the Wii U even MORE complicated and nobody wants that for Nintendo’s sake.

I bought the revised controller when it released and it broke in less than a year. It still has poorly designed D-pad that can’t take intense fighting game abuse. The rest feels good though.

The conference was lol worthy, I watched it on Spike. Sony showed a lot more games at the PS4 reveal plus actual gameplay. The X1 is more of a media center than a actual games console, however can the WiiU beat the X1, i’m not sure it can, if the WiiU cannot run the engines used for the PS4 & X1 games then dev’s & pub’s won’t put the effort into porting to the WiiU.
They’ll find a way. Plus, Retro hasn’t pulled out their game yet. That could change a lot of developers minds.
you have to understand that development cost will be high should game companies go for making games on PS4/XONE hardware. now this is all fine and dandy, but im pretty sure ive heard the wiiu can run games fine. if games for the PC can be droped for consoles, its fine.
Personally, I’m wondering how many of these units will sell vs. how many will be returned. Once again, MS has failed comprehending the problems of having an all-purpose system: just one more thing to go wrong. Besides the unsavory factor of having to subscribe just to use the online feature (adding to the bill of an online service), now they want to charge you for their profile service.
Not to mention unless they fixed the issue, if your one unit breaks down (and it will, trust me), losing all your online info because your stuff is registered to only one unit. From what I’m hearing, once again MS has dropped the ball again. When will they learn their ‘Windows Software Dynamic’ does not work with console hardware.
In other words, releasing a product with glitches and expecting owners to pay for constant ‘upgrades.’ The other problem, of course, will be the b/c issue because I’ve a sneaky suspicion you’ll won’t be able to play older games on it (unless they’re DLC). Seems the Xbox One will only attract those extreme hardcore gamers who just want something to impress the neighbours. Though from reading the comments here, I doubt whom they’d be wanting to impress.
I don’t care for online gaming… if it has system link and games that don’t require online presence to player multiplayer like the most recent games that have been released for the previous system, then I may pick one up. I look forward to any Left4Dead game on the system, that is loads of fun in system link with friends..
I love Nintendo just as much as anyone here but let’s just wait and see how this Xbox One does before jumping on the flame trail. At the very least, it’ll save you face from looking silly bashing it at the outset.
I do have a Wii-U and it is true, the system appears to be lacking its meat and potatoes. I do not have ADD and run out of patience simply because the system appears to lack games which it does not. There is the newly christened Wii-U VC to play with and some titles, the fact is that the third parties bailed on this run of the Wii-U launch. Nintendo should have expected the fickleness of the third parties, lessons learned!
Anyway, I will be picking up the Xbox One when it is released or perhaps much later and not because of its bells and whistles but for the games it will have. The only one I will be skipping this generation is the PS4; the only reason I bought a PS3 was for the blu-ray and the next PS4 has nothing going for it. I don’t care for any of their franchises; Little Big Planet had charm but is a hollow experience, God of War is off putting simply because the main character is a big psychotic a$$hole with a big chip in his medulla oblongata. and Uncharted is essentially Lara Croft with a penis, although that penis is attached to an attractive character with some interesting Indiana Jones-esque throw-backs. :D

Wow first of all it looks like the fattest Verizon FIOS box I have ever seen, Nintendo is moving towards the hardcore audience now…and Microsoft is moving towards the Casual. I honestly don’re care how high the specs are on this system if its going to be an all-purpose multimedia device…If you want one of those invest a couple hundred more dollars and build a descent PC. And honestly no matter what the numbers say when it comes to specs, the PS4 and Xbox One wont look too much better than the WIi U’s graphics. I know this because I have seen side by side comparisons of the Wii U and PC and there was little difference. Honestly, its all about the games…and sometimes the names…Oooh a rhyme!!!
I’m a huge nintendo fan, but they’re going to have to really improve their OS like include face recognition on the gamepad and recognise voice commands to compete, alongside must have exclusives, alongside proving it’s ability to handle next gen game engines
Or, it could just survive off of the engines that it’s currently compatible with, alongside making use of the new engine that Retro is supposedly making for the system.
BTW, Monolith Soft’s game looks gorgeous. If you catch someone saying that’s not next-gen-quality graphics, then that person’s a graphics whore with standards higher than mount Everest.

Roku TV already dominates that market offering HD for less. Google TV and Apple TV are pretty much operate like Nintendo TVii does. Xbox One has 8 cores for television? On Roku Channel you can watch live MLB and NBA with a fee. The graphics on the XBox one, don’t seem much better than Wii U. The Wii U haters made it seem that 720 was going to destroy Wii U. Now people want a Wii U for exclusives and PS4 for 3rd party. After seeing this GTAV may get better revenue of Sony and Nintendo than Microsoft.
Roku 3 is very small. 100 Roku 3s taped together is still smaller than XBox One. Also it offers HD for a base price around $60. I just can’t see buying One for television.

On top of that, over half of its’ features will be locked out from the rest of the planet that doesn’t live in the US for likely a very long time, and down here when they announce it’ll be US only at first then gradually spread, that means our region won’t get it, ever. They effectively killed their worldwide release, and at the same time even American gamers are changing their mind and choosing to get a PS4 or even a WiiU instead of this junk, because of all the limitations they’re posing on you. If this thing still feels like a gamers’ device to you then be my guest, I for one won’t bother
