rayman_legends_screenshot

Today’s the day when the review embargoes are lifted for Ubisoft’s latest platforming adventure, Rayman Legends. Online gaming publication IGN has awarded the game 9.5 out of 10, stating that the game is bursting with creative platforming and fresh ideas. Eurogamer also heaped praise on the game giving Rayman Legends a perfect 10/10. The publication says that it is a showcase for the game designer’s art and one of the greatest platform games of this – or any – year.

    1. 9.5 and a perfect 10! Ubisoft is on fire already releasing some of the most fun and unique titles for all consoles… especially the Wii U. RL is truly THE game to play on the Big N’s HD system. Just don’t take my word for it, Simply G.

      1. Agree, ports are never as good as where a game is originally developed on. So the best system to get RL is the Wii U.

      2. IGN’s review was funny. I could tell this game would be a ”9.5/10” sorta game from the challenge app, and for me the touch screen murphy sections are the best part. IGN’s review was trying to say the gimped QTE controls of the PS3 and 360 versions are good lol…

I’m sorry but those versions are going to suck a lot of cock compared to Wiiu version. The Murphy’s dungeon on Wiiu are proof of that. Not to mention the Coop Asymetric play of Wiiu version.

        1. I am loving how some are saying that this game should teach Nintendo a lesson in how to make a platformer again.

We’re talking about these two Rayman games that have essentially lifted ideas from the Donkey Kong Country series, but why bother remembering the existence of those games when there’s some bullshit point about Mario to be made.

          1. I’d love to see a Mario game done in a different art-style now, since the art is just that bubbly, Mario Galaxy-esque style now.

      1. 7/10 is not generous for that game.
The only people that don’t give it at least a solid 8 are the ones that couldn’t get past their dislike of the controls.

        1. The controls aren’t the only problem in the game, though they do get finickier the more commands you unlock.

There’s also the problem of the stupid auto-aim thing which makes your character go and attack in the direction of enemies further away rather than the one you’re pointing the stick to that you can actually reach.

The characters are annoying as fuck, the dialogue crap even for the satire it’s trying to be, the graphics are a mere passable, with it trying to make as many things as it can get away with shiny, the soundtrack kinda forgettable.

Oh, and let’s not forget the atrocious camera that gives off shitty depth perception and the fact that it get’s even worse when it comes to parts where the action moves to the gamepad and the only way to move the camera is gyrometer and it doesn’t even work well.

The Wonderful 101 can go kiss my ass.

            1. Do you call everybody who has a different opinion a ‘corporate shill’?

I’m just a guy who slapped down a good chunk of money on a game and ended up REALLY fucking hating it. Fun fact: People are allowed to not like what you like.

              1. Didn’t call you a corporate shill- I said you sound like one.
The multi-paragraph review is out of place… this post is about Rayman Legends -___-

      1. Unless all that was just one big charade conducted by the Ubisoftians to secure an excuse which is releasing it on the other consoles…

And I’m betting those Ignorants gave this game a 9,5/10 because of Xbox and Playstation versions…

        1. No, it wasn’t. It’s called “Dev team toiled away at original game purely for Wii U however because Zombi U and the like didn’t sell very well on Wii U, they decide at last second to make it multi-platform in order to play it safe, a decision wisely made by a financial standpoint, regrettably having to delay the Wii U version because of some bullshit exclusivity policy by Microsoft (who need I remind you are known for stupid policies).

You don’t seem to understand that while the publisher side may be business suits and money and all that, the dev side is different. These are actual people who worked really hard on a product filled with their passion for the art form. They wanted this creation out in people’s hand by now but they ended up being just as pissed off as we were at the delay.

However, they still cared for their creation so they put a bit more stuff into it and as an effort for a small apology, enhanced the demo for Wii U a little. This is a game with a lot of love and care put into it and by purposefully going out of your way to make sure the game fails, you punish these people who worked really hard.

And then UbiSoft see it not selling, think people just don’t like Rayman anymore and pull the plug on the franchise leaving it in the same limbo as Crash Bandicoot and Mega Man and then you’ll all wonder why they keep making an Assassin’s Creed every year.

“And I’m betting those Ignorants gave this game a 9,5/10 because of Xbox and Playstation versions…”
Does this matter? It’s still Rayman Legends. They’ll give it a 9.5/10 because they think Rayman Legends was great. It doesn’t matter what little black box is running it, it’s still the same great game and if you don’t see that, I feel you’ve missed the entire point of the art form.

          1. ZombiU not selling well is their own problem…

Obeying the Xbot’s policies is their own problem that the Wii U version won’t sell as much as they anticipate and they will blame our people, just watch…

      2. Not really the dev team still got payed, just hope this shows ubisoft how wrong their decision was to delay this game and you cant really blame me for not buying rayman cus ive already gotten other games to buy as well. Am enjoying blacklist btw ^_^

        1. “The game you made was a financial flop. You and your dev team are fired. Also, Rayman is not being supported anymore. We’ll go back to making even more Assassin’s Creed games, because they sell.”

          1. Chances are rayman being finacially flops is highly unlikely since its going multiplat so the devs wont get fire also with the game looking to be critically acclaim, id say they need talented devs on their team..

          2. Well, there is a definite problem to be honest. Rayman, had it been released this summer going against almost nothing would have sold incredibly well during the drought. But now with it being released next month, it has major competition from everyone just like Origins did when it was released around a similar time. Origins didn’t start selling well till after a hefty price drop after the first few months putting in bomba status. I wish they could have done something simple like make it a timed exclusive so they could have gotten those sales while while things were still going well instead of delaying for a fall release.

    1. >Is one of the few third party games to prove if the game sells on Wii U or not.
      >Doesn’t buy it because he’s a whiny bitch who can’t tolerate a delay
      >Ubisoft stops working for Nintendo
      >Genius.

    2. It’s people like you who will make Ubisoft stop supporting Wii U! Newsflash!! They are the only 3rd party company that is doing so!! Rayman Legends Wii U version has to sell more than the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions!!! 💋

  1. If Nintendo are as angry as their fans were for this delay then, Nintendo is about to unleash legendary games; Zelda, Metroid and Mario incoming :).

      1. That is okay microsoft’s last console is probably the xboxone, unless nintendo and Sony’s first and second party studios get lazy. Though from Xenoblade chronicles and the last of Us from last generation. The xbox line is in trouble in generation 8.

          1. I though the next two were the vacuum cleaner to keep my next Nintendo console clean and shiny and a fan to keep Gen 10 Nintendo console dust free. oh well.

  2. I’m not surprised. They better give this game all the marketing a game is allowed to have in every country it’s releasing in; Ubi has a bit to owe for the stunt they pulled with Legends.

    1. Not worth it. No one will buy it on the Wii U.

The Wii U sold about 15 or 16 units over the past year, and 3 of those people won’t buy the game out of some childish moronic spite they’ve built up for no reason.

      1. Just like the devil, the xbox’s time is up, the WiiU is selling fine now. Especially since the Pikmin 3 debut; a niche game moving consoles monfrer. We are playing great games not FPS 5 hr campaigns. The 3DS is demolishing the combined efforts of the PS3 and xbox360. Hate all you want X is coming :).

  3. overhyped I personally rate this a solid 8 instead of a 9.5. Is this the reason why IGN dissed W101 as to not interfere with RL sales?

    1. like i didnt care to much for origins, its a good game but something about i didnt actually beat it yet…. so i will buy rayman legends just not for 60$, ubisoft games always get cheap after a year and they always have sales. same for assassins creed black flag, just for 20$ since its assassins creed.

  4. This is why ratings are to be taken with a grain of salt, depending on what you like. I was going to try this game out, but I found the demo and app boring.

  5. this game wil sell, everywhere but the wii u!! nerds cry when the best version because of childish retardation. ubisoft is right, only baby mario sells and they drop support because of nerds who are still bitching about the delay and buy the game used for 5$ less.

    nerds…..

      1. trolling now means facts?? it wont sell and ubisoft was right. for the people who are dropping support on it who were going to buy it, xbox and ps3 sells more, they were right on delaying it and releasing it on other platforms.

more proof that only baby mario sells for the nintenpuppets.

        1. By your logic, they will drop support for ps4 and xbox one because they will also sell less units of watch dogs, assassin’s creed 4, etc because they are outsold by their predecessors. The reason that the game will sell the least on the wii u is because their are less people that own it. why can’t you people get that through your heads? all of the consoles will have their own problems sooner or later, its fine to get them out in the first year.

  6. “I disagree with the delay of Rayman Legends Ubisoft did because they didn’t think it would sell many copies on Wii U, so I’m going to boycott the game and not buy Rayman Legends on Wii U when it actually need it and prove Ubisoft COMPLETELY FUCKING RIGHT, while PS3 and 360 fans don’t care and buy the game and make it look like the right choice, because I didn’t buy the Wii U version to balance it because I’m a spiteful and entitled little shit.”

Nintendo fans: Never realising that they’re making shit worse.

    1. themasterstubbs, you are completely right! All those “Rayman Legends delayed” haters need to quit whining and the buy the game!!! It has gotten at least a 9.0/10 from every single reviewer.. not just IGN. Plus the delay got us TONS of extra content that would not have been in the game if it were just released for the Wii u at the start.
Not buying Rayman Legends on Wii U will only prove Ubisoft right and then… They won’t make 3rd party games for Wii U anymore… we’ll lose our last 3rd party supporter. Why are people SO GODDAMN STUPID!? 😡💋

      1. People need to understand that speaking with your wallet only comes with 2 phrases.

“I want this” and “I don’t want this”.

If people want more Rayman or for Ubisoft to treat the Wii U a bit better, they need to swallow their pride and support the Wii U version of the game.

  7. Wiiu version is BY FAR the best. PS3 and 360 are gimped and missing the AMAZING touch screen gameplay and coop of Wiiu.

        1. Everything in our Empire is by far the best of everything, even the sorry excuses of the gimped ones…

          It’s ∞% the definitive version…

      1. Leaving luck to heaven will always result in pure supremacy for our Empire as compared to the Sony Legion and Microsoft Realm, we don’t deal with luck…

And our carnival games attract more people than any Pitfall or The Past of Us combined…

  8. I’m gettin this day 1, that’s rare in me!! this game looks SO beautiful and the app (demo) was so much fun it became a must have for me, yeah they delayed it but i don’t care, it doesn’t make it a lesser game, in fact they put more stuff in it! also if you are complaining about the lack of games on the wiiU (i sure am), not buying a game because a delay is not gonna help

  9. I’m happy for the devs to received such goods scores and I wish the dev team good luck with the sales. The thing I am most unhappy with is that I won’t buy the game until it’s price drops or next year and the fact that Nintendo will be the loser on this since it has become multiplatform.

    1. It will almost certainly win even if SM3DW turns out to be an excellent game considering how Anti-Nintendo the majority of the west is and because Rayman Legends is multiplatform…

        1. I have a few thoughts…

          1. Western gamers in general favors Specs/Online over anythimg else…

          2. They like Movie Games where the story first defines how good the game is, not the gameplay…

          3. They can’t stand Nintendo doing their own thing…

          4. Realism over Creativity…

The only thing I can accept to an extent is that High Command still has not taken real steps into online gaming yet…

We know so far that SSB4 and Mario Kart 8 will have online multiplayer but we need a few more quality games with that to entice the impatient western gaming community…

          1. Honestly, I don’t believe those points are gamers as much as developers and publishers. Notice how much American companies like to force new policies and pass it off as necessary and futuristic? *cough* Microsoft, EA, Activision/Blizzard, Sony anyone?

“Oh, you totally want to buy BF6 and all the DLC plus only play it online!” “Oh yes, look how good the resolution is of these digital breasts! Nevermind that the playthrough lasts 7 hours and is littered with ‘press x or b to kill the bad guy and jump to a 5 minute cutscene’! But seriously.. breasts @ 4K/60FPS!!”

Yes even Sony has almost entirely lost its Japanese roots to the point that it makes the Wii U with its current lineup look like a cross between PS2 and Gamecube. For those of you that remember, think of the older Japanese RPGs and GC’s interesting library. I honestly believe Nintendo has gone back to making some really cool games again like there were in that period. They may have kept part of the name from last generation, but the console and games are certainly not.

I believe most games of this past generation were overrated and have focused too much on the cinematic experience rather than the game itself. I think gamers from anywhere will agree as a majority that they would rather play than watch.

            1. Indeed…

Thought I agree that these developers play a big part in it, the ones buying their garbage speeches are the gamers themselves so in other words, it’s a bad circle…

            2. “I believe most games of this past generation were overrated and have focused too much on the cinematic experience rather than the game itself.”

              You mean like TLoU?

              1. Yes. I would go as far as to say games like even Mario Galaxies and Mass Effect were a little overrated. Understand when I say little; they are great games, but don’t meet my expectations of ridiculous praise and perfect scores.

Mario Galaxies was a great game, but didn’t feel natural to me as a Mario game. In comparison to Mario 64, what made MG fantastic was the major improvements to the now seemless movements, controls, gameplay and graphics. I even love the new wonderful 3D environments, however it felt short, too easy and frankly the story/theme felt weak. I know the latter is vague, but it never felt right to me. That’s not to say I loved the game.. just that I believe it isn’t worth all the praise.

Mass Effect is something similar to MG. When breaking the game down into categories such as story, graphics, cinematics, controls, gameplay and heck even the controversial ending, I would give it high marks across the board. However when it comes to a total score it wouldn’t fit the average. I honestly didn’t like how it felt so linear, how you essentially became an errand boy/girl for 70% of the game and how ridiculously short and easy the missions were even on Insanity difficulty. All great elements that tried so hard to come together, but ultimately didn’t because you spent more time spectating and not playing. Overall one of the best of last generation, but frankly doesn’t deserve 9s and 10s.

I realize I have high standards for games, I just don’t believe so many games should be given 9s and 10s so generously as they are. A 9 or 10 tells me that said game is perfect (or very near) and one of the best of all time. I have an incredibly hard time believing that, particularly with how games are being developed as Nintendo Commander described.

are you on fucking crack dude

  10. Well… I did have this on pre-order, but like so many, I cancelled it when Ubisoft decided to postpone the release for no GOOD reason. The game’s score doesn’t change the fact that I was strongly anticipating that game and then Ubisoft stuck a big “fuck you” in my direction.

    1. I think they have more than made up for the delay… I don’t uderstand you people. Support Ubisoft or they’ll stop supporting.. 💋

  11. IGN gave it a 9.5/10 cause its on their precious Xbox and Playstation. If it was Wii U Exclusive still they would have givin it a 5 or 6.

  12. As much as i hate Ubisoft for pushing it back and making the wait even longer. I’m still going to get it. Not for Ubisoft but for Rayman and side scrollers alike.

Don’t let your hate cloud your thoughts, Support Rayman! Or this might be the last.

enough of the power shit there all of the same gen and graphics have reached saturation point

nintendo just delivers next gen in reality not just graphics and at 1/4 the power draw heat and fan noise

lol x86 cpus awaits the loud hot ps4 and the 150 watts power draw PATHETIC

  14. I am still not buying this over W101. I’ve got Splinter Cell:Blacklist, W101, LoZ:WW, and Pikmin 3 to pick up. This will be picked up probably after I pick up Sonic: LW and SM3DW.

  15. IGN awarded the game 9.5 out of ten? I bet you it would be a perfect ten if the Wii U version was written out of existence.

IGNorance aside, if you’re both a 3DS and Wii U owner, with the games coming up soon, it’s going to be very difficult to pick up all these games.
