Retro Studios Looking For A Developer Skilled With Enemy And Boss Programming

It looks as though Retro Studios is hiring again and this time they’re looking for a skilled individual who is knowledgable with both enemy and boss programming. We are still left guessing as to what Retro Studios is working on. They began their latest project when Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze development ended. Here’s the job description.

Retro Studios

Austin’s sunny weather also supports a great range of outdoor activities, providing plenty of venues for top-notch game developers to recharge and unwind.

Purpose/Summary

  1. I wonder if it’s too early to announce their new project at e3, and if it is, maybe they’ll at least talk about it!

          1. Oh no, u live in the exact same state were i live? Lol just kidding i lov Nintendo too because they love Georgia so i lov them: D

            1. SherlockWillFightBilbo

He sounds like he was referring to the country of Georgia, since he said his brother was in Europe. I could be wrong though.

  2. Nintendo SHOULD invest in monolith soft AND retro for them to be able to develop TWO games at a time. same for INTELLIGENT SYSTMES actually.(fire emblem ect guys.)

hal labs has a lot but don’t do …….as……much as they could.maybe.

    1. And if Sonic Boom goes well, they should also try to get Big Red Button. They need some Western studios. Plus that team looks like they have many talented veterans.

  3. This can’t be DK or a platformer in general. Its something that requires enemies to be smart, maybe a metroid, StarFox, or something new

    1. There’s no reason to think it’s something that requires enemies to be smart. All games need AI programming regardless of smartness of enemies. It’s likely they are either expanding and need new staff, or someone left and they need a replacement.

  4. can you ask nintendo for me about wiisports club and when is baseball going to be released is there a nintendo direct before e3

    1. But I think it leans more towards Starfox or Metroid since the enemies in Ice Climbers don’t require the same programming capabilities as the other 2 titles.

          1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

Well, it’s good that Retro is perfect doing what’s best, recreating retro games…

      1. Remember, Retro personally stated that they’d be “lucky to return to Metroid”. Now, since Miyamoto hasn’t been announced as working with Retro on this game, i don’t necessarily think it will be Star Fox. This could very well be a new IP.

        1. From their statements, it could very well be a new ip. They could also possibly be lying to make it a surprise at E3. No-one knows except for Retro and Nintendo themselves, but I would be fine either way.

        2. Also, maybe Shig is working secretly with Retro on Starfox, ya never know. But even then, I think Retro is talented enough to work on Starfox themselves.

However, I think Platinum would do a great job on Starfox as well after playing those space missions in TW101.

      2. All games need AI programming and nothing in the article suggests they need highly advanced AI. There’s nothing here that makes room for any speculation about what they’re working on.
It’s likely they are either expanding and need new staff, or someone left and they need a replacement.

        1. The way Sickr worded it though seems like they need someone greater than normal. I quote, “And this time they’re looking for a skilled individual who is knowledgable with both enemy and boss programming.”

    2. Metroid! Maybe StarTropics (dreaming). Btw I couldn’t play. I’m sorry. Also do you have the same time zone as Helsinki?

    3. Im predicting StarFox too, that IP has lots of potential and needs a definate recreation. Everything After SF64 had somekind of problems. Also they have to get rid of krystal, Fox shouldnt be a pussy lover boy, he is though space fox blowin monkeys in….space.

      1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

        Or make Krystal even tougher…

But it needs to be what it is, a full scale war game…

      2. No, it would be stupid to remove Krystal. She’s not the problem.
Just tone down the mushy love stuff that Command had going (I like to pretend that game didn’t exist..)

Keep it more along the lines of Assault.

      1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

So I’m being rude to people because I said I’m guessing I think it’s Starfix or Ice Climbers?…

        Whatever you say…

    1. Judging an unreleased spam with a series that scores and acclaimed higher than any COD garbage except COD4 being up there rightfully.

      STFU lame ass Brokeback gorilla.

  5. Its funny that people are already like, “OMG MEEEEEEETROOOOOID OMG MP4 FOR U OMG!!!!!” just like they were before Tropical Freeze was announced. Now ofcourse i would love to have another good Metroid(its been a while) from Retro, but i have a feeling they are now workin on a IP that they have never worked before.

-Predicter who can predict wrong too.

  6. I think that Retro is currently making a new IP for Wii U. I hope that they would show us at E3 2014.

  7. Enemies and bosses? Um.. Idk. Are they trying to put really hard bosses in there or something?? o_O

    1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

      Yes and it’s about time…

Enough of children bosses that you can beat with no eyes…

I need Metroid Prime Echoes Boss difficulty or higher…

      1. Actually most Metroid Prime bosses are fairly easy except with Omega Pirate in Trilogy’s Hyper Mode. That fight was a bitch. XD

    2. My father’s friend worked in retro studios until january and he worked as programmer for enemy AI. I think retro is simply hiring for replacement
