Yesterday’s Nintendo Digital Event covered a bunch of new game announcements including Zelda for Wii U and new IP Splatoon. However, you may want to sit back with a more chilled approach with the Wii U, and that’s where Art Academy comes in. Last year, Nintendo’s home console received Art Academy: Sketchpad – a small art app for amateurs and professionals – which has an enormous amount of talented individuals contributing daily to Miiverse.
Now, Nintendo will launch Art Academy, where budding artists will have access to all the tools, can learn all the techniques of shading, painting through new lessons and can record or play back your own art. There’s also an option to frame art in a personal gallery, removing the save limit to created artwork. It’s currently unknown whether this will be released as an update for Sketchpad, or an entirely new application, but Nintendo is targeting a possible October 2014 launch date.

yay, I was waiting for a new art academy for wiiu but sketchpad. So sad sketchpad still doens’t have the lessons option they promised a year ago..
I bought that a yr ago and I’m still waiting for the lessons. I SUCK at drawing..
It better be an update to sketchpad cause I don’t have money at the moment or space (wii u is white so yeah…) since I have some VC games and got the free game with Mario Kart 8 (and have Art academy as well…).
