        1. Well if it’s cool and awesome to have a tricked out moped instead of an actual motorcycle, then you keep on puttin’. But only Lloyd Christmas can ride a moped & make it cool & awesome. I have a feeling, though, you & Lloyd have a lot in common.

                  1. Ridley 2 Big 4 Smash? More Like 2 Big 4 U Wiiklings 2 Control! Leave Him 2 The Masters!

Don’t bother, bens. It’s trying too hard to get someone to agree with it. That’s just how Nostalgia is.

        1. Also means there’s less reason for brand loyalty & upgrading to an 8th gen platform. Right now, Wii U is the only 8th gen console…worth getting. But if you want to pay $400 in addition to the $60 for each game (unless on sale) just for enhanced graphics, then so be it. It doesn’t make fiscal sense to me if one already had a platform that could play & offer the same gameplay experience.

“I call that getting swindled and pimped (shit),
I call that getting tricked by a business.
          That shirt’s (platform’s) hella dough,
And having the same one as (just because) six other people in this club is a hella don’t.”

    1. How so? That’s like saying it feels good being a bon vivant during a famine. Or that it’s great being a skilled & proud pastry chef when Twinkies are the only sweets selling. Or like saying it’s great to be a gamer when pseudo-games somehow trump real games.

Video games peaked in the 6th gen. It’s no in decline. They’ve gone mainstream & are designed to be stylish rather than substantial. Gaming has become an institution. Gameplay & creativity left in bloody heaps on the cutting room floor to lure in graphics whores & mundane thinkers. If only those interested in gaming new what came before, were willing to be challenged & explore abstract worlds, they might understand what constitutes real gaming. Hardcore audiovisuals, photorealism, & a high ratio of cutscenes do not a game make if the backbone, the gameplay, is short & weak.

      But hey, ignorance is bliss.

      1. Maybe because I like the games that are coming out? You guys are so annoying with the “gaming is doomed, graphics sukz, fuq ubisoft, hate xbox!”

        1. I’m not saying you’re wrong. Play what you like. I just don’t consider those video games in the purest sense. Really, it’s a matter of ratios: gameplay to cutscenes. There can be both, but when one part overpowers the other, it’s either a video game or an interactive movie (a broad term, sorry).

It wouldn’t bother me in the least if publishers would invest those profits into more traditional games (IPs old & especially new), instead of pocketing über profits & investing almost soley in Sims or the ratios where cutscenes overpower gameplay & said gameplay is either sweet but oh so short, stagnant, or almost an afterthought. To me, flashy visuals were supposed to entice gamers to experience the gameplay, the heart of, well, a video game. Alas, it seems now the veneer has become the focal point instead of the afterthought. Sometimes the lines are blurred, but the content of those titles seems well-defined. In my opinion, there aren’t many games on that list.

          1. Used to be, companies would make popular sequels, streamline the costs to dev them, & invest those profits into new IPs or into an existing IP that’s profitible though not printinflg money. Sony & many 3rd parties lost me when they stopped focusing on the gamer.

  1. Sometimes I hate my country. Why is a Madden game selling better than anything else?!

I feel like I’m the minority who wants a WiiU but can’t get one because it’s too expensive. :/

    1. Because there are more people (and video gamers) who are fans of football, then there are people (video gamers) who are fans of Nintendo

    2. I don’t know why everyone is so anti Nintendo. They are a little…out of touch, but they have the most pure fun in their games still. Not my favorite, but definitely my go to company when I just want fun.

      1. ….And the mass number of kids/teens we would lose in war and just in general would be atrocious. I know you’re only joking, but I rather them play the gore than be in it. >_<

    1. Football is dangerous. It is much safer to play a football videogame. Also, football is a team sport. It is impossible to play football by yourself. If you want to play an actual game of football and have no friends that want to then you can play Madden.

      1. Well the “same” nintendo games don’t actually exist. Besides The new super mario bros, that game is a clone for sure. Every game is always pretty different in some way. Sports games are just updated roster and slightly better graphics. Maybe a few gameplay elements tweaked here and there. And it comes out every year. Nintendo sequels come out every 4-6 years. Big difference

    1. Because they are awesome! I buy the sports titles everytime they come out since the updates graphics and new modes are worth it. It’s equivalant to buying Galaxy 2 after 1 or Mario Kart U after Wii.

      1. It’s not at all like that. Nintendo actually adds something new or changes the engine the game runs on.

have you played mario kart wii and compared it to 8? two completely different games in look and feel.

now compare madden 14 to madden 11. Graphics may be a little better and the mechanics may be a little better, but it’s a rehash.

        1. MK8 has better graphics new items/driving mechanics and new characters. Madden 14 has better graphics, new strategies and new mechanics. Both of them deserve to be called their own game, but if one is labeled as a rehash then both should/debate

      2. you can see that people really like those sport game’s. This is like ea’s golden business. I am not saying that Nintendo games are the same like those sports game, but something like Mario kart doesn’t change much overtime besides better graphics and more characters and some other things .

Still a lot of people buy it every-time when it comes out. That is not strange because Mario kart is a good game. an even better example would be the super Mario bros series.

That is just the same with sports games and call of duty people buy them just every-time.

        1. Mario Kart 8 is a HUGE overhaul on the game’s technical aspects that to simply call it an “upgrade in graphics and character roster” is insulting.

          1. Uh, that IS what Mario Kart 8 is. I literally just got done playing Mario Kart 7 and started playing 8 and it is a graphics upgrade with more characters. And due to the Gamepad and other accessories, better controls. That’s it. I don’t know what HUGE upgrade you are seeing. It lacks content wise compared to other Mario Karts like DD and 7. The battle mode isn’t the best, but I never go to it anyways. I find 7’s much more fun. It’s still a great game though, nonetheless.

            1. The kart customization is completely redone. It aloows for way more customization options than before.

The races now take place on zero gravity maps which changes the look and feel of the track.

Zero gravity bumpers have been put in place that allow you to get a boost from “hitting” te bumpers instead of being obstructed from movement by hitting them. Same goes for bumping off other players in zero gravity sections. It is a complete 180 in terms of playstyle that Mario Kart has never seen before.

    2. monsterhunterpro, you are a core gamer and you are preaching to casuals…

They buy sports games. It’s what they do. They aren’t into the videogame world like core gamers are.

    1. IDK. I didn’t even know the game released in the U.S so that right there tells you why it would never be in the top 10.

    1. America doesn’t get the same games that Japan does. Also, every country loves first person shooters and sports games… Only country that doesn’t is Japan and DON’T YOU DARE SAY they have great taste in games, because they are the ones that are buying up Smartphone games like they are going out of style.

      1. You are right in saying that each purchase what you want, but looking at the side of the Industry that’s too bad, to maintain balance, quality and longevity is necessary that quality games sell well, what happens in America is bad because it will degrade and generalizing the industry and killing it bit by bit (at least in the US)the culture of quality and traditional games is hardly widespread currently in the USA, so low-quality games are selling and those who deserve such sales, sometimes fail miserably, it’s not a just a matter of taste, is for the maintenance and longevity of the industry.

      2. #FlappyBird…nuff said xP Anyway, that doesn’t take away from the fact that America does have great taste in games. Go outside..and you’ll see people either w smartphone games on the subway or talking about Madden. It’s a win/win

      1. Why are you guys blaming it on the entire country? Just because you don’t play sports games doesn’t mean they have bad taste in games. And these sports games reach out to a much larger crowd. Even tons of casuals and non gamers play them. There is no such thing as bad taste in gaming. It’s all a matter of opinion.

        1. Exactly, this is proof that the American market of games is dominated by casual gamers, is noticeable for this Top 10, and this is not good.

          1. Are you shitting me? Every goddamn country is dominated by casual gamers… Casual gamers are the largest population of gamers, duh! Core gamers are in the minority, but we pay more attention to game specifics and gaming news in general.

      2. Tell me what else America should be buying? You criticize America for buying games like Madden, but Nintendo hasn’t released a game in over months, so why would any of their stuff even be in the top ten?

I would like to know a game that was released just recently, in the U.S, that “you” approve of the rest of the general population buying and playing.

  2. The ones I think I’d like to play on that list are: Battlefield 4, Watch Dogs, The Lego Movie Videogame, Minecraft, and Diablo 3. Probably CoD Ghosts, but idk. Got bored with that series since I played MW3. And to everyone complain, just because you don’t like these types of games gives you no right to call any of them trash. Especially if you haven’t played it. If you don’t care for Madden, then fine. I don’t care for it either, but at least I don’t insult it. Just let the fans play whatever games they want to.

  3. People still play madden? What the fuck why press x when you can play real football its not like driving a race car or win in a street fight

    1. That’s like asking why hold down R2 and get kills on CoD when you can go join the war and kill people for real? It’s because some people find it fun. Just let them play their games. It’s not that serious, guys.

      1. But i can buy a football for 5 bucks and go play with friends why spend 60 when you would have more fun being active but on the other hand people are fanboys and will buy anything

    1. How/where do you make a dedicated account for this site with an avatar and everything? I hate having to constantly ripe my username and email in.

  4. Yeah it is predictable. And people, please don’t compare Tackleball, or any sport sim, to mariokart or even cacadoody(cod). In sports games you always play in the same field by the same rules. It’s boring and tedious and I completely respect your decision to play video game simulations of antiquated 100 year old sports. I understand that the masses flock to whatever is marketed to them, because they’re poor and suffer from hero worship for these over paid athletes(hey I was there too). And I also know that people lack imagination and are more comfortable with what they’re already used to. Hence the predictability of the list. We could argue that we’re in the 21st century and that we should strive for something better than our great/grand/parents, but people are people and we should let them be. I personally prefer video games over these sports sims. I’ll take blitz over madden and strikers over fifa. F-zero, even Mariokart, over Gran Turismo/Forza (boring). Video games aren’t restricted by the limitations of our reality only our imagination. So please don’t compare these sports sims to my favorite hobby. There’s no comparison. I love playing on new tracks on mariokart. I love playing on new maps in cod. I love exploring the new worlds in Zelda and Metroid. I love experiencing the stories of fire emblem. Or seeing how creative their puzzle games are from pushmo to pictobits to Snapdots. Or how wacky Warioware can get. Well you get the idea. Still, I do respect their tastes in games even if I personally don’t care for them. Very predictable. long live Nintendo.

  5. Ridley 2 Big 4 Smash? More Like 2 Big 4 U Wiiklings 2 Control! Leave Him 2 The Masters!

Those games are lucky North America is idiots with these best selling games lists by putting all the multiplats into one selling group. If it was like the UK or Japan, I bet you anything Mario Kart 8 wouldn’t be missing from this list. Sure it might not actually be high up on the list but least it’d be on the list in the top 25.

Anyway, I now understand why Activision, Electronic Assholes, & Ubishit have to spam a yearly release. If they didn’t & only released a new version every few years, they WOULD not survive in this business. Nintendo, on the other hand, can easily do the opposite since they have FAR more franchises to rely on. The only, ONLY reason you see Mario so much is because Nintendo uses him for multiple genres and he is their mother fucking mascot. But like any other Nintendo hater, they try to use all the games with Mario’s name on it as proof that Nintendo does nothing more than rehash their games. If not for Nintendo, Capcom, Square Enix, & the indies, this industry would be nothing more than mainstream shit like Call of Duty, Madden, interactive movies.

      1. As much I love Legos, I see no point in it beside being a celebratory film which is why I skipped it and the game. I would’ve bought Undercover but its just a kid’s version of GTA or True Crime and I would feel like an ass buying it for that reason. XP

        1. Are you serious? Lego City Undercover looks freaking amazing! And The Lego Movie AND its game are great! I can’t get that freaking song out of my head! *Everything is awesome!*

          1. I never said they sucked. It just didn’t grab my interest and I’m not gonna buy a children’s version of another game that’s better for my taste and age. XP

And what song you’re talking about? ^^; Rick Roll?

                  1. Duh! XP Its sad PC gets the game later in January especially when PS4/PC/DOne are exactly the same in coding. Maybe Rockstar has seen that shitty Watchdogs PC port and wanted to push it later to assure its optimization is well done and not end up as lazily ported and done as Watchdogs: Poor man’s GTA.
